I gotta say I'm really looking forward to this one against a Perth team which is undermanned through injury but still having a red hot crack.  We should go in unchanged although I did note Kitch was icing up his hammy late in the game on Saturday.  If he misses then Ben Golding or Kaidyn Fullgrabe should get a chance based on recent form in the two's.  It'll also be interesting to see how the Thursday night experiment is received by the footy public.  I think it's worth a try as it looks like it'll be a nice evening weather wise with great lighting so should provide a terrific contest.  Subi by 3 goals in a tight one.

How do you reckon the players will pull up especially the ones who are tradies and have to put in a hard, physical day's work on the Friday?

To preempt a possible response I realise it is a Perth home game and I understand they may be the ones who made the decision.    It is difficult to see what benefits there are to play WAFL matches at night let alone on a Thursday evening at night.

Good questions 42. I can see where it's not an issue for pro leagues bit at semi professional level it must be tough on players to work on the Thursday, play that night then front up again for work on Friday. I remember Leigh Kitchin being asked about mid week footy a couple years ago and he didn't mind it as it freed up the weekend. I guess it's worth the experiment as it's a stand alone game of footy and not up against AFL games or other codes. Perth generally pulls a pretty good crowd at home games so it'll be interesting to see how many show up and how it rates on 7Mate as that'll determine whether it's a success or not.

Good game, just a shame its on a Thursday night, especially given they had a whole long weekend to use, Sunday night would of been better.

Thanks for the reply BC.  I wonder what job he had.  We played Perth earlier this year with a starting time of 5.10pm.  The attendance was 1,650.  I would contend that the crowd size was smaller than what it would have been if it had been played during the day.

I would prefer Friday night myself but I guess 7 doesn't want it clashing with it's Friday night AFL telecast.

I guess it's a case of suck it and see. I'm not going to slag the WAFC for trying something different. Who knows?..it could be a resounding success. Time will tell.

I dont mind the idea of Thursday Night Football for the WAFL, we could make it our own and a night free from all of the overload of vfl on the box.
42 I am sure all teams already train on the Thursday night and still go to work on the Friday?
It may even encourage WAFL players to keep playing on knowing they would get their weekends free whilst playing on a school night!

Bit bizarre given they had a VFL free day Monday and thats the biggest traditional WAFL day of the year.

Huh?
I am talking about Thursday night footy being a regular weekly fixture slot not the once a year Foundation Day!
