58s what Abbott received yesterday was a stay of execution. Given Cabinet solidarity two-thirds of his backbench don't want him. It could be a long week for him this week.

As for suggestions about what could happen to Australia's financial situation under the next ALP government; the supposed immediate financial crisis Australia is facing is purely a line pushed by Abbott et al to put into practice their desires to gut Medicare, remove higher education opportunities for all etc etc etc. There is no immediate financial crisis facing Australia and by most metrics Australia continues to be the envy of most other countries in the world.

Paul Murray (the Foxtel variety) had some interesting words to say about Malcolm Turnbull.

A final observation: what does it say for the Liberal Party that one of them chose deliberately to vote informally?

BC wrote: cardy...i was a bit concerned over Abbott's comment that after the result of the spill motion, good government starts today...why the hell didn't it start 16 months ago when they came into power? i'm somewhat relieved Abbott survived because I hate the thought of changing leaders just because the polls are bad but I think it'll probably become inevitable at some point as there will be a lot of backbenchers nervous about their jobs if things keep going like they are. plus the fact i can't imagine that Labor rabble getting back in after just 1 term...so at days end if it means Malcolm will get the Libs over the line at the next election then so be it.

History and commonsense tell us Abbott will be gone within 12 months, no sitting leader has survived a spill in the long run, the numbers were poor for Abbott, 40% don't want him and if you factor in the front bench , thats about 2/3 of the back bench, Im a TA fan, but the fact is his polling is CRAP with a capital C , straight after He came out with the good government begins now comment , nothing will change BC, if he was serious he would dump Hockey who is the biggest dud they have.

Regardless , at the moment they are headed for electoral disaster in 18 months and handing gov over to the biggest bunch of talentless lemons in history, and that should not be allowed to happen.

Doestnt corruption ever end in the LABOR party shambles.

Here we have a person who has been suspended for branch stacking

During the Albanese /Shortland ballot 20 Labor party Ballot papers went to his address after the Party changed the Addresses on Ballot papers!

He did not forward them on as he said he did it for party unity and TO MAINTAIN PARTY INTEGRITY????

Shortland won AFTER IN THE PREVIOUS BALLOT HE LOST..

Party members are understood to be concerned that the case is not a one-off. Yeh right... ;)

Sounds like the corrupt union practices follow them to Government.
And you want these theives and liars to run the country again?
A party that left us with a 47 Billion deficit
A party who have never had a surplus since 1989
A party who are costing us 110 million a day to pay off their debt
A party who can only focus on Abbott instead of helping to get us out of the Shit
A party who are not interested in Australia but their own self interests

Chris Bowen was made to look very Sheepish after Q and A this week.. Well done Alan Jones :)

Cardy and Unka2 I think Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing comes to mind with respect to the 20 ballot papers story.

When you accept and acknowledge unconditionally the many, many, many broken promises of the bBbott Government then you may have some semblance of credibility. Perhaps also if you are going to pontificate about what the ALP should be doing to get Abbott out of the mire you can explain how Abbott was supportive of the previous government with his upwards of 50 lost motions to suspend standing orders during most question times.

I also point out that approximately 40% of his own party voted to spill the leadership even though there was no challenger.

I could go on and on and on about the failings of Abbott and his government; instead I will leave you to ponder this article:

Your not wrong mate, Alan Jones just blew him away like a feather, never was a strong performer old Bowen but jeez he looked like a loser Monday night..

It would be great if Jones got into politics he is quite amazing as an orator and thinker, alse Helen Ridout I thought was outstanding as for the rest , pretty bloody ordinary.

Yeah the good old ALP , who are to scared to hold a secret ballot in case the truth comes out , instead they have stand over merchants watching them like hawks when they do and dont stick their hands up. Thugish reprisals at the ready.
