Following the repudiation of Campbell Newman's LNP Queensland Government the sands of time are fast running out for Tony Abbott and Colin Barnett. The broken promises of both Tony Abbott and Colin Barnett will come home to roost as they did yesterday for the Newman's LNP broken promises.

Particular kudos to Senator Brandis who denied that Tony Abbott had anything to do with the Queensland election; yet seemed to be particularly mute on why Tony Abbott was absent from Queenland during the election period.

In case anyone missed the by-election result in the South Australia. A 20 year old ALP Government recorded a 6 % swing to it in what was considered to be a blue ribbon Liberal seat.

Once again I await with interest all those who condemned Julia Gillard and her alleged broken promises that they put on record their condemnation of the Tony Abbott broken promises and the Colin Barnett broken promises.

Interesting times ahead on the political landscape for sure. According to yesterdays news, Captain tony could face a leadership challenge before the next federal election.
A former Howard government MP, was being urged to challenge Abbott as party leader.
Such a challenge would effectively see a smooth transition for an alternative leader such as Julie Bishop or Malcolm Turnbull to become elected. Both Bishop and Turnbull ruled out a challenge yesterday. It's been alleged captain Abbott's announcement of a knighthood for Prince Philip during the Queensland state election campaign was a distraction for the Newman government and one of the reasons the LNP lost.

Interesting times ahead for Australia full stop, there is zero political capital left in this country to allow for real change, violent swings from one gov to the next mean we are embarking into dangerous European style political landscape of do nothing short term govs, that refuse to or who can't address the hard issues.

I don't have the political smarts that some people here do have. I do have an opinion though, be it right or wrong. On one hand, Tony has to go, but on the other, people are sick of parties swapping leaders willy nilly, though, Tony has never seemed to be anywhere near popular. So if they do replace him - who gets the job? Bishop- people still remember the last female PM we had plus her inexperience - albeit unfair on her. Turnbull? I remember him when he was around previously - an arrogant millionaire that has no idea in the world what it's like to not have a million in the bank.
One thing I do know...I'm gobsmacked to think that people are starting to prefer he mob of drunken sailors that just about bankrupted this country...some people just have very short memories. Go figure???

Shark, it's easier that's why, people just think of the hip pocket, if you give them sonething for nothing they'll like you, take it away and your a goner, it's a jack system now, people vote for who lines their pockets, theirs zero concern for the national interest fixing budgets or the like, they don't care that budget doesn't raise enough to meet expenditure, put the bills up and your cactus. Anastsia what's her name was a air head that went in with zero plans for Qld massive debts, Newman did the tough things and paid the price. McGowan isa shoe in next time. But he won't need to have a plan and of course there's no chance of him reducing expenditure, he,ll crank it up...as for Abbott yep just about cactus,,for mine it will be Bishop, Turnbull just won't have the numbers in the party, although the electorate seem to like him. If Bishop gets it, she will be the first WA PM since Curtin.

It would be an interesting time if Turnbull was chosen to lead the Liberals again. I would think that would mean the dumping of the laughable Direct Action Plan and the introduction of an ETS. It is also interesting to note that only three candidates, Turnbull, Bishop and Morrison, are mentioned to likely replace Abbott; Joe Hockey is not considered a candidate. Certainly the impression one got from reading Hockey's biography recently that Hockey had aspirations with respect to becoming PM of Australia.

I would suspect that Turnbull's insistence that an ETS is introduced would preclude him from winning the leadership spill. Given Bishop's propensity to become Deputy Leader no matter who is leader should also ensure that she would not win the spill. This leaves Morrison: given the Liberals have a problem due to broken promises and the reality that the budget was unfair to the less fortunate that would only be further enhanced if Morrison were to win the leadership spill.

To add to the legacy of broken promises we can add the dumping of Abbott's PPL scheme.

Perhaps Abbott can give himself a knighthood prior to meeting his comeuppance.

I say leave him in as long as possible so labour will come out smelling like a rose when the election is due in late 2016.

First up I just want us to be permanently rid of that pompous Cottesloe arse we endure here sick of the sight of it

As for the Feds - well that ex-AWU fraud Shorten's behind the back episodes has cost him any chance of my vote despite my dislike of the Libs

Or is the current situation over in blundersville part of a much bigger problem? Haven't we had 5 different prime ministers in the last 8 years? Even a school child could see the debacle of the rudd/ Julia years as they completely pillaged the country. Most commentators agree it will be 10 years before the mess is corrected.
As stated earlier, "there is zero political capital left in this country to allow for real change, violent swings from one gov to the next"
All of which is bad for the country and just confuses the hell out of the electorate.

Hird a rumour that if the evil 34 cop suspensions and Jimmy loses his job at the Bombers he's going to head in to politics. Caroline Wilson has named an unnamed source in stating as fact that the 4 time Anzac Day medallist has set his sights on landing the top job and running on the platform of disbanding ASADA's funding immediately in an effort to get the country back in the black....I'm also informed that the Hird camp intend to introduce compulsory supplement and peptide programs to all members of the Australian media and all members of federal politics in a desperate attempt to lift the performance of the 2 most lacklustre overpaid industries currently operating in our lucky country (afl house exempt of course due to WADA code compliance)....what have we got to lose you ask, well we'd at least have a better dressed more aesthetically presentable first couple and their leadership qualities whilst debatable could not be any worse than the recent crop we've had dished up at our feet that we must by law choose one from or alternatively face a fine for the criminal act of doing nothing except remain on one's sofa sleeping the day away.. Whilst his program to improve his current team back in 2012 may have pushed boundaries which some medical professionals disguising themselves as the media insist has put the future health of the evil 34 players little tadpoles at risk (ie these super fit humans are clearly doomed now they have allegedly boosted their immune systems with artificial intelligence and bulk vitamins and will breed overweight and lazy Xbox champs much to the chargrin of the afl and its recent arguments for higher value father-son rule contract bidding), the reality is at least there was a plan of attack in hoping to improve which is more than I will say for the recent bumpkins in politics who have unashamedly put the health of our entire nation at risk by not having a clue what they are or were setting out to achieve. Shit, might be that we'll all need a Stephen Dank in our lives soon as we won't be able to afford to go to a doctor...or so I thought I allegedly heard from an unnamed source close to Caro.

FYI sadly this is about as serious a thought as i can have regarding Aussie politics. Glorified debating team captains are the last people we should be voting in but we do it again and again and again. Whilst Joe Hockey might not be up to the big job, or maybe he is but I'm not one to have an politically educated opinion here, the one thing I'll say is he is at least the first bloke I've seen in politics since Hawkey that I'd be happy to get on the piss with and have a yarn!!!!
