Even if they decide to go for Jap subs , there will still be fabrication and servicing here.

Sorry for the confusion Bazza. I was referring to the Defence Minister appointed by Abbott after the last Federal election. He made the Liberal Party election promise, prior to the last Federal election, that the 12 subs would be built in SA.

As for your comment about fabricating and servicing, that is not relevant to the election promise that the subs would be built in SA. Another broken promise by the Abbott Government.

Swan if I had a choice between someone lieing about wehere they being built and a Beasely's blue along the lines of the Collins Class Fiasco and the billions it ripped off the tax payer, I'd take the lie about the construction location.

The point is Bazza that there was a huge amount of vitriol directed toward Julie Gillard about her alleged lies. Why isn't the same amount vitriol directed towards Tony Abbott about his lies and his broken promises?

He did not forward them on as he said he did it for party unity and TO MAINTAIN PARTY INTEGRITY????

Shortland won AFTER IN THE PREVIOUS BALLOT HE LOST..

Party members are understood to be concerned that the case is not a one-off. Yeh right... ;)

Sounds like the corrupt union practices follow them to Government.
And you want these theives and liars to run the country again?
A party that left us with a 47 Billion deficit
A party who have never had a surplus since 1989
A party who are costing us 110 million a day to pay off their debt
A party who can only focus on Abbott instead of helping to get us out of the Shit
A party who are not interested in Australia but their own self interests

Chris Bowen was made to look very Sheepish after Q and A this week.. Well done Alan Jones :)

Cardy and Unka2 I think Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing comes to mind with respect to the 20 ballot papers story.

When you accept and acknowledge unconditionally the many, many, many broken promises of the bBbott Government then you may have some semblance of credibility. Perhaps also if you are going to pontificate about what the ALP should be doing to get Abbott out of the mire you can explain how Abbott was supportive of the previous government with his upwards of 50 lost motions to suspend standing orders during most question times.

I also point out that approximately 40% of his own party voted to spill the leadership even though there was no challenger.

I could go on and on and on about the failings of Abbott and his government; instead I will leave you to ponder this article:

Unka2 not quite the degree of vitriol thrown at the previous government and the previous PM from posters on this forum. With respect to your specific question in your last post: yes I can.

Going by the latest news today, renewed leadership speculation and tensions has emerged again. Apparently malcolm has the numbers to topple abbot. Reports indicate the front bench are disgruntled and a leadership challenge could happen as early as next week.

Will that spell the end for Messrs Abbott, Hockey and Paul Murray (Sky News variety)? Perhaps we need to throw in Janet Albretchsen, Miranda Devine and Peta Credlin? Might it also spell the end of the most blatantly partisan speakership of Bronwyn Bishop?

Swan 42: if they do go for Malcolm, it will be interesting watching the continued civil war within the Liberal party. Put simply, quite a few Liberal voters simply will not be able to vote for the man.

It will certainly be interesting given Malcolm Turnbull supports at ETS to offset Climate Change, believes in the proper NBN, a Republic for Australia - no more dames and knights), etc etc.

I would expect that there might well be a number of ministers would go back to the backbenches if Turnbull was to "usurp" Abbott's "crown". Perhaps T Abbott may be able to get a gig in the House of Lords.

Yep -- there is no getting around the republican problem if you were running the Liberal party ; Malcolm is a right winger -- he supports the Welfare Cuts and Work Choices and all the rest of it. Don't let his Australian nationalism suck you in Swan.

Rest assured I wasn't getting enamoured with Turnbull. It was merely a brief analysis of some of the things that Turnbull supports which are at odds with a significant number of his supposed Liberal Party colleagues.

It is an exquisite irony that Tony Abbott who was so adept at leading the "noalition" (A Albanese) that hoist and petard come to mind immediately when thinking about his current situation.
