  • There are a couple of people from interstate that are possibly still in the finals over the last week that might be interested.
  • They stuffed up the first interview process and told applicants they weren't wanted, meaning that these people don't wish to reapply.
  • The whole process is basically a shambles.
  • Chance Bateman could possibly but his hand up to coach if the club is stuck. It's a bit premature but he wouldn't be the worst decision.
  • People like Tony Micale and Chris Waterman shouldn't have to go through interview processes.

Not one bit in your post shocks me,its who we are!

The funny bit is how the CEO came out all those months ago and said this process was going to be thorough.
What he should have said was this process will be a total stuff-up like most things we do!

I have no confidence in anything this club does!

If Tony Micale or Chris Waterman were applicants, why shouldn't they go through an interview process.
30+ we are talking about Hagdorn!!!

It may have been said by Hagdorn DF but it all rings true.

I dont mind if some applicants particuarly those you target and are experienced bypassing the interview process.
The club would still chat with them, find out what there philosphies are, where they see us,our list, thoughts on recruiting etc....
So it would be an interview of sorts.
Neither of those guys are going to get the gig anyway,Waterman withdrew and Micale you suspect would be coach by now if he was interested.

We should be hearing some news out of the club re-new coach by the end of this week,it would have been a fortnight since the second round of applications closed!!

You would think that we would hear something by the end of this week. As you say 30 plus it would have been two weeks that they have had for interviews to be conducted.

If by the end of next week, October 10th, we still have not heard anything then if we aren't already we are in deep deep shizenhousen.

The players usually start training in the first week of November. Whoever gets the coaching gig will have 3-4 weeks to assess the list, look at the areas we need to focus recruiting on, decide who his backroom staff are etc etc....

Either way that's a very short space of time to do a lot of work.

The club has said they are not going to be rushed with making a decision and as we have heard they seem to have botched up the first interview process. However it has been almost THREE MONTHS since Damien was sacked.

I know that a lot of us wanted someone with experience but as these people don't seem to be around, otherwise they would or should have been given the job right now, then I am leaning towards appointing someone who hasn't coached at league level before. Someone possibly like Steven Armstrong or Arthur Maskos and trying to get another senior assistant coach as well as Trevor Williams to support him.

Another option could be looking at Ross McQueen from Claremont. Has coached reserves and colts now for a long time and has been involved in a successful footballing environment.

Hagdorn has no credibility when it comes to WAFL matters. A few weeks ago he blithely confused Clutterbuck with Cadwallader when talking about the laters drug suspension.

How he could claim Perth have "stuffed up" because they told the first round failed candidates to beat it just defies logic. That's what you do with failed candidates. Tell them 'thanks, but no thanks'. If they weren't good enough the first time why would you want them to re-apply again?

The only criticism you could make of the process at Lathlain is having a board member on the selection panel. The two should be separate processes since the selection panel will end up recommending a candidate to the board.

You might be critical of Perth not getting a coach by now but realistically this is the time of the year when the maximum number of candidates is going to be available - at season's end. You are only ever going to get a candidate months before the end of the season if you know who you want and they are available. And I reckon that's what the club did anyway targeting Harvey and Harris.

There are untried coaching gems out there I'm sure. Some have been mentioned here before. Whether Perth can attract or unearth them is another matter but seriously listening to the hysterical uninformed rantings of a known bullshit artist like Hagdorn isn't going to help.

Ashley Smith has been delisted by the Eagles. What would his points value be?

Also they reckon that Simon Tunbridge is in the firing line. If he does get the chop I would definitely be targeting him to come back to the club.

Doubt Simon will get delisted.

Stuff that then. He might be DF, they reckon that Tunbridge, Wilson and Carter are possibly in the firing line.

I can't see it but if he is, yes he is a priority.
Year or two in the AFL system more mature body etc.
Yes would be a priority.

On the radio this morning the guys were talking Mark Harvey as our coach.

The only stumbling block as they saw it was if Hird was given the flick at Essendon and Thompson gets the Gold Coast gig Harvey could be in line for the Essendon job.

But they were convinced Harvey will get the Perth job, either way they reckon he'll be coaching a team that wears red and black.
Anyway thats what they reckon wait and see i suppose,an announcement on the new coach can't be to far away.

Forget Ash Smith i wouldnt take him even if they gave us bonus points to use and we got him for nothing!!
Tunbridge,i think he may survive another year but if he doesnt he's just what our midfield needs!
