This would be an appointment that smacks of desperation and not strategy

DD wrote: Then going by Peter Germans record as Peel's head coach he must be no good. Coaches are only as good as the cattle they have at their disposal. All I'm saying is we have two blokes with a ton of experience and they should not be dismissed. This club has been very thin in the area of people with football experience and knowledge in the past so I for one appreciate having Williams and Marty on board.

No,German only had Peel for 1 season for 7 wins, then coached Subi to Flags,so no i would say German had a very good coaching record.
Williams had them for 3 wins,5 wins 5 wins.

Look you see merit in our CEO being coach i dont.
FFS hes our CEO the career pathway he has chosen, not coaching.

Williams should be put in charge of the pathway of junior development thats where his good track record lies, dealing with younger footballers and isnt this the area that we all agree needs addressing urgently.

Who would have thought when McMahon was sacked 3 months ago that noone who is suitably qualified would want to coach us because if Marty is offering up his services it means the second round of coaching applicants hasnt gone well.

Anyway we will agree to disagree.

If Atkins has shown interest in becoming the coach, it sounds like the application process has stalled or going badly. The position was re-advertised but hot heard any more news about it. I wonder if Atkins is selected to coach, does that mean he stops his office duties? Will Perth need another general manager?
Am not suggesting Atkins is a bad choice. Would have thought the application process would have shown interest from others.

Believe strongly that the new coach is Earl Spalding.

Poor process to readvertise, that effectively ruled out everyone form the first application process, why would any of them apply twice if approached now?????

apparently Brenton Sanderson has just been sacked by Adelaide...maybe thats why Perth haven't announced anyone yet...they were waiting for Sando to become available. ;-)
