nothing else.

Who are the candidates that the PFC supporters are aware of, not rumoured but aware of and who would you really like.

Again I apologise for any trolling I contributed to!

I was hoping that it would be Todd Curley but he took the South Fremantle Job. I know the club had a group of six candidates which included Curley. This was said a couple of weeks ago by Marty Atkins on the radio. I understand why they have re-opened the application process with state league clubs and AFL teams seasons coming to an end over the last week.

By doing this they must be aware of some candidates that have finished over the last week or two that you would think would be better than some people in that original group of 6.

Here's hoping that we can have a coach in place before the WAFL GF. That's 19 days away.

At the moment I am of the opinion that we need someone that will challenge the players. For too long now players have been able to get away with not reaching the required standards to play WAFL. This is just my opinion btw. I think someone like a Peter German or even a Simon McPhee would be good but are they available.

Grump i wouldnt have a clue who the candidates were and are and i dont think many posters on here would know other than who Marty has said eg.Curley.

The person i would like is Gary Ayres.
He has coached at the elite level, coached an AFL team to a GF,coached a VFL team to a premiership and has just taken Port Melbourne to the minor Premiership in the VFL.
He has also coached the Victorian state team.
And of course his playing feats are well known, played in 5 premierships and won a Norm Smith Medal, hes also played under some of the best coaches of there time.

Well credentialled!
Maybe he's up for a fresh challenge!

Gary Ayres would be a terrific get if we are able to prize him away from Port Melbourne. The Borough finished on top of the VFL ladder this year after only dropping two games all year. Got beaten by the fourth place Box Hill Hawks on the weekend but you would give them a great chance of making the Grand Final on Sunday 21st September.

That there is the issue. If we are able to get Gary Ayres it wouldn't be until after this date.

Will be interesting to see which players leave the club in the off season. Anyone over 2 points needs to be assessed and looked at and asked if they are going to be there over the next 2-3 years. Obviously a player like Paul Bevan who is valued at 12-points carries a bit extra as he offers more to the team other than his out put on the field.

We know that Jared Risol and Nick Kane will not be going around in 2015 so that frees up 15-points in the cap. By my rough calculations we have a squad size of 50 players at 98-points in value. I have included Paul Bevan in this squad who's points will get halved next season from 12 to 6.

That leaves 22-points available to spend on recruits. That's enough to go and get two, possibly three players to address the needs of the team.

To make more space available I would be having a look at whether or not the following players are going to be a part of the next 2-3 years under the new coach.
  • Mark Deaves is a good reserves player but don't think he is capable of playing regularly at league and hitting the scoreboard often enough. He is only 2-points but it's still points that could be spent elsewhere.
  • Matthew Moody has been a very good servant of the club playing 95 games for the club since coming over after his stint in the AFL with Brisbane ended. Whilst he is capable of going on at 29 years of age and valued at 5-points the question as to be asked.
  • Cale Morton has no problem finding the football but he just looks to me a player that could deliver a lot more but just doesn't. At 11-points he is an expensive player and only played nine games.
  • Mitch Morton hasn't had a good year. Does not look fit and while he showed glimpses of his best and just didn't seem to me like he got going. Again like his brother Cale is 11-points and he only lined up 12 times this year for the Demons.

  • That's possibly another 29-points that possibly could be freed up if these players decide that they don't want to continue at Perth next year or the club or new coach decides to move them on.

If we are to look at a squad mainly made up of players that are 1-point in value with the exception of Paul Bevan, Aiden Tropiano, Rowan Brookes and Leyendekkers then here is roughly how the squad would look.

Back: Holland, Jones, Hunt
Half Back: Sinclair, Billings, Irons
Centre: Florio, Tropiano, Manuel
Half Forward: Bateman, Bevan, Collard
Forward: Stack, Busher, Eyres

Ruck: Leyendekkers, White, Ugle

Interchange: O'Sulliavan, Houghton, Hug, Power, Kalajzic, Browne, Leggett, Arangio, Leeson, Boyle, Edmonds, Brookes.

Looking at that squad we definitely need a key forward, key back and at least two key midfielders.

Looking at that squad you need a miracle not a few players, absolute rubbish. Lynch, Cox or Jesus Christ couldn't help you. Wooden spoon by miles its time to clear out half that lot and be done with it.

I agree with u mr afl the mortons durability isnt worth the 22 points especially when midfeilders/flankers are easier to find among your local players the points would be better spent on two big men (chf chb) if bevan didnt have to play key forward hes capable of being a quality inside mid or good rebounding half back collard would flourish with two key forwards and i also think hes capable going through the midfield finds time and good skills i think stack would improve as a third forward and i like him off halfback aswell i also think chance out of a back pocket could be a huge asset (run , good kick , leadership) personally i wouldnt have billings in my team and i dont rate busher or leyendekkers one of perths major problems i believe is they hold onto guys for to long year after year they give guys league games that show potential every 5 or 6 games they play but never become consistent performs deaves and houghton are another couple in this catagory.i like the younger guys and if they can get some good coaches to develope them over the pre season then they can become good consistant players but we shouldnt be here in two or three years talking about there potential still for me thats not acceptable at this level a season of chances should be all a player deserves if the player doesnt step up and play good footy the chances are he never will

What is it with these EP flogs in Perth threads all of a sudden is it because they don't have a legitimate team to follow .

I agree that we can't be sitting here in 2-3 years and still waiting for them to develop.

Leyendekkers has had his injury problems this year but he is a young tall and talls take time. He is still only 21 and not 22 until October. If he is able to get his body right during the summer then I do believe he can become a very good ruckman at this level. He is someone that I rate pretty highly and was in very good form prior to the state game this year. Has played 33 games of league over the last four seasons and he should now be coming into his prime and I really think if fit can have a very good year next year.
