Confirming will not be rushed into a decision.
Re-advertising has unearthed new possibilities.
Recruiting process has also begun.

Rushed into a decision????
Its been 3 months since they sacked the coach!

What recruiting process has begun??
Surely the new coach must have a say on all recruits.
This is where it all starts to go pear shape for us,the wrong people making the calls!!

Pre-season starts in roughly 6 weeks the club would want to get a wiggle on because just as there first preference of coach was snapped up so will the good recruits on the look out for new clubs.

Its unearthed new possibilities but has it unearthed quality applicants?

Would make it hard to recruit without knowing who the coach is going to be wouldn't it? I think they should hold off unless there is a Ross Young around. You would like to think the new coach would bring a few players across with him.

Is the WCE implant out of favour with WCE?

I think DG is a Subi supporter DF.

Maybe he is thinking the Premiership coach is stepping up to the next level although Schoefield indicated otherwise and suggested he's at Subi for a couple more seasons yet.

Talking Subi was that Orsi the asistant coach of Subi??
His 3/4 time address to the players he looks after sounded pretty impressive.

Yes you are right 30+ DG is a Subi supporter.
Don't think Schoey is going anywhere.

Yes that was Wayne Orsi at about his 4th or 5th club.
I think Peel
He's been most places.
Liked his cigar tho.

I think Marty should pick up the phone and give Orsi a ring. Well worth having a chat.

Im not suggesting he should be our next league coach but you have to wonder why he was only with us a short time, perhaps if a guy like Orsi had the colts longer then maybe we might have seen a lot more talented kids progressing into league ranks.

Yes disappointing that the club hasn't found the right candidate yet.

BUT...big changes happening at AFL clubs at the moment with the impact of the luxury tax on football departments. Lots of assistants getting thrown out because of it. I wouldn't be slashing my wrists just yet even if this second bite hasn't thrown up a good enough candidate.

Listening to Skinny Lappin on SEN last week he seemed to suggest quite a few (including himself) would start looking at other options now their positions were going.

Something Peter Spencer said on the ABC GF commentary yesterday piqued my interest. Rather than advertising go and target a few candidates. The implication being there are senior level coaches out there who may be interested but who will not go through the process of applying. I'm sure Marty is already right on to that.

And in that respect Wayne Orsi is one I would be having a chat with. Was a very good colts coach at Perth who only left because of interference. Don't write off types like him. There's a Ken Hinkley there somewhere I'm sure.

A mate went to the final show for 6PR's Footy on the Road on Friday and said that Kim Hagdorn made some comments about the Perth coaching position.
  • There are a couple of people from interstate that are possibly still in the finals over the last week that might be interested.
  • They stuffed up the first interview process and told applicants they weren't wanted, meaning that these people don't wish to reapply.
  • The whole process is basically a shambles.
  • Chance Bateman could possibly but his hand up to coach if the club is stuck. It's a bit premature but he wouldn't be the worst decision.
  • People like Tony Micale and Chris Waterman shouldn't have to go through interview processes.
