I remember Spalding playing. What's the problem.

Played Afl for Carlton as well didn't he.

Great family connection with the club.

Sorry I am obviously missing something. What has he done wrong.

I assume he has been coaching ammos somewhere. What's his record?

As a side. I would like Marty as head coach if it is not Earl.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Damo has a new gig at Claremont now with his mate Broadbridge. Give him time to make an ass of himself there first before coming back.

The position was re-advertised but hot heard any more news about it. I wonder if Atkins is selected to coach, does that mean he stops his office duties? Will Perth need another general manager?
Am not suggesting Atkins is a bad choice. Would have thought the application process would have shown interest from others.

It has gone badly the same informant stated that....

The Panel had selected Curley, they rang the other applicants told them they were not wanted, once they got around to ringing Curley he had already accepted the SFFC job, the panel was then left with no where to go at that Atkins offered himslef as an urgent stand in, the board refused him and still are searching for someone.

Oh no !!!!!

Exactly Smokey!

TFAF,
Its about time you started to comment as your user name suggests..Time for a flag!! that we will not get under Atkins as head coach and we certainly wont get one under Spalding.

If its Spalding i suspect last man standing has got the job.
Been out of the WAFL scene for 12 years (far to long) only coached East Freo for 2 seasons for a second last(8th) and 4th finish only to be bundled out of the first semi, not an overly great record for a short stint as EF head coach.
Hes not the coach we need,he doesnt have the runs on the board and for mine 12 years is to long out of the system!!!!

If theres absolutely no-one available to coach us i'd rather see Chance Bateman given the job,he's a bloke that came back to us after his afl career(unlike Spalding!) and is still involved,at least he'd be up to speed with the modern day way of coaching and he's red and black through and through!

Hopefully with applications closing tommorrow there is still that someone of note and experience that has applied and will get the gig.

He couldn't be any worse than what you had I assume.
At least he has bigtime experience. Played in arguably one of the best teams of all time, that Carlton premiership side of 1995. He played under David Parkin and I think he was an assistant coach at the Dockers under Lyon recently wasn't he?

its not like their are Alistar Clarksons growing on trees.

...and why should we settle for second, third and fourth best..thats what we will be doing here.
Make no mistake if its Spalding it will be a case of last man standing.
Where was Earl when we were struggling in the late nineties??
Was last in the wafl over 12 years ago...far to long out of the system.
TBH id rather we wheel Todd out of retirement than have Spalding.

Im not suggesting a Clarkson but perhaps the next time this club wants to sack a coach before seasons end it best test the market place out first and see whats available and then go flat out at getting your man.

If Spalding has got the gig it should be no more than 2 years and absolutely no contract extensions before his term is up. Definitely not high on anyone's list. 30plus, at least he should rate key forwards highly. Lol
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
