Statement on club website now.

I’m reassured!!
At least it is reassuring to some extent. We have heard officially from the club.
However, "speculation is premature" leaves an air of concern over this matter.

I have just received an email from Bob Shields concerning the so called rumours of an alignment.
If the email was meant to allay my fears and reassure me, then all I can say is that it failed dismally.

STT... put as simply as I can,  the 2020 was a player loan agreement between two WAFL clubs. No semblance of an alignment.
What is now being speculated appears to me to be a player loan agreement between an AFL club and a WAFL club. Could this be construed an "alignment" which members would have a right to vote on, or is it just a mutual agreement between the two clubs lending players one club to another which may not be considered an alignment and not require agreement by members?

That is sounding like the scenario.
What I dislike about the Perth statement is where it's written "speculation over a change is at this stage premature"
That statement alone is not providing a great deal of confidence.
Then it "involves discussions on a range of matters including access to players and other opportunities"
Sadly this story (which has been around for a long time) is still with us! The fact Perth have not come out and flatly squashed the rumour has been a grave concern of mine.
Some sought of deal is being sought behind the scenes, sadly!

Yes, the statement says nothing at all. Just hedging bets and buying time. Almost every comment on club Facebook page is negative. I hope that reflects the views of most members.

Smokey, I don't see any similarity between McInnes, etc in 2020 and some player loan arrangement. In 2020, those guys were unable to otherwise play footy. They trained with us, and were paid by us. Under the loan model, we may get Shuey for one week, on managed minutes, then never see him again. We may get players that go in and out all the time, like Vardy, or get lumbered with some project player spud, like Riach. Further, if the loan arrangement is exclusive to Perth (or maybe one other club), it is still an alignment.

So StT, our zone is bad even for women's players! I guess it makes sense, they are the girlfriends of the scrawny bogans who populate our zone. Which players should we send out to suburban women's teams training sessions and trophy nights to inspire them?

All you non Perth supporters can get stuffed. Where was your care factor when we were asking for reviewed zones.

WC could ensure we get new zones and a new stand and nicely cashed up all within 5 years.

These next 5 years won't amount to a hill of beans anyway.

Trevor get us our new zone build our stand, load us up with some cash and throw in an sham flag. If so you can have 5 years.

Well said. Does Subiaco feel guilty about their massive financial advantage that made them the most successful second tier club in Australia?

Does Claremont feel guilty about having access to the most privileged and best educated kids in the state?

Does West Perth feel guilty about accepting the bail out loan from the commission and striking a deal to repay 4 cents in the dollar for not paying their bills?

Does South Fremantle feel guilty for having one of the strongest junior zones in the WAFL that continues to grow every time a new house goes up in the southern corridor?

Which 4 clubs have been the most successful in the past 20 years?

People need to get ready for this in my view…PFC are the only club without a WAFLW team. We had the Angels of course but they were drawn from our zone and were not competitive. They went to Kenwick.

The wce will be saying they will help us to get a women’s team up and running.

This is a WAFC issue and has nothing to do with wce but watch this space…

The wce sympathisers on the Board will try and run the two issues together.

Beware!!
STD did you strenuously oppose the West Coast Eagles moving into Lathlain Park taking over 3 quarters of our spectator area and the best car park in the WAFL?

Did you oppose them becoming the main tenant at Lathlain Park therefore absorbing most of the costs associated with leasing and maintaining the ground and building a new outer gate and toilets and a half a million dollar scoreboard?

Did you strenuously oppose the naming of Lathlain Park as Mineral Resources Park and the sponsorship money that flowed into our bank account?

Did you strenuously oppose Hungry Jacks taking over the clubs canteen and paying us to put the Hungry Jacks logo on our jumper?

Or like those other clubs with certain advantages do you not feel one bit guilty about sticking your hand out to accept the chocolates but all of a sudden want to tell them to fuck off when it suits you?

Common sense assessment,no good maintaining your autonomy when all your doing is reserving the right to constantly fail,so sometimes you have to bite the bullet.and i have to begrudgingly admit that our board did the right thing for our long term future.
