I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I have to agree that something certainly does not seem right with membership numbers, specifically with the sudden increase.  Also still no absolute/understandable answer from the club to why the Rover and Trident memberships were dropped for the past 2 seasons. That leads me to ask what membership types are in the presidents lounge every game day? It certainly isn't full members?

It is obvious that something is going to happen, but what and when?
Three years ago I fully supported Bob Shields and his new regime on the back of promises made to effect the changes needed to take the club forward to a new era.
I regret to say that I for one have not seen the changes that were promised  and needed and the club has gone backwards to the point that we are now vulnerable to the scenarios presented by any one of all the conspiracy theories being suggested.
The club has no culture nor the proud spirit that it once had. Members and supporters are drifting away in numbers and only the long-time diehards remain.
What we do have is an enlarged Board with new names that are not readily recognisable nor easily identified as Perth people. They have been added to the Board by stealth and not by the membership. What they bring to the Board table is not evident nor are their roles. 

Off the field the club is run like a local amateur club. Perhaps that is unkind to the many strong and well managed clubs of which there are some who are more professional in their operations than we are.
The Perth football department is not up to scratch with other WAFL clubs. That is reflected by an amatuerish approach it takes. We have seen frequent errors in judgement, lack of due diligence and neglect. An overall sound professional attitude is not always evident.
I cannot see where we are going but as long as the current situation continues then we are going nowhere.
We need stronger leadership and that starts at the top.
A lack of communication, including in response to those conspiracy theories, only adds to our problems. If those theories are rubbish, at least let the membership know that theories are all they are. 
The members and supporters are getting very restless if not angry and the vultures are circling.



  

 

Seems to be something happening for sure, with the surge in member numbers and strange new faces on the board, and with the WCE now flagging they will not have a team next year, I would be certain a merger with Perth is on the cards in next year or so, could well sound like a done deal and may have been orchestrated some time ago.

I would be very sus of your president as well.

Surely the president and board are aware of the rumours circulating...how about they do their job and either confirm it or deny it. It is sad to hear passionate members throwing in the towel which is totally understandable.
If Perth merge with West Coast they are dead to me . We have been around 120 years and need to sort tbe zone thing once and for all as we deserve to tast success as does every traditional WAFL club
Surely the colts being winless and having an unheard of percentage of 36 will wake the WAFC up. If that was an AFL team they would be given all sorts of help.

Why doesn't one of the Perth faithful on here contact the club and find out what's going on if anything? If you're a member you have a right to know.

What would you know about who is on our board? Your membership count is a crazy 3815 compared to our 2267. Maybe your club is branch stacking for a Fremantle takeover? Any Liberal Clan members on your membership list? Better check your WhatsApp group messages. Lol

I’ve noticed membership numbers mysteriously climbing every year since clubs put membership counters on their home page late into the season, it’s nothing new. As the number of remaining games reduces, cost of membership is discounted and they want to clear stocks of merch for the following season. There is nothing sinister about it. 

Our president sus? Then your president must also be sus since Bob called your president a personal friend of his at the end of last season. Lol

The club definitely deserves a whack for lack of communication towards members, it’s not that hard to put in a newsletter to members we are working hard with the TOVP towards getting the wheels in motion for the development of new club rooms and grandstand at Lathlain Park and exciting news the WCE have announced a big new scoreboard will be constructed in the coming weeks that will be the best in the WAFL…… or to that effect. You send out a newsletter like that then it stops the criticism and innuendo.

I did last week BC, see my post under New Scoreboard.

[justify]If you are a member then make sure you make as much noise as possible and voice your opinion. Ring the club, demand answers, even if the administration is not willing to give them. We are members, we have a right to know what the club is doing. The lack of communication this year has been appalling. Last year when we were winning games and made the finals the communication was better. This year it’s down to about one update email a month. The most constant emails we got was in relation to the Auction which surprise surprise involved the club receiving money. They don’t want to know you unless you’ve got your chequebook out. There’s been talk for the last month or so about us aligning with the Eagles next year. Now the club could have come out and made a short statement on their website stating that this was not the position of the club and we don’t intend on aligning with anyone for 2022 and beyond. However as what’s been a common occurrence this season we have heard sweet FA from the club. Oh unless they want you to put your hand in your pockets. 

The fact neither Bob or Russell has squashed these rumours is what’s most concerning and allows the rumour to grow legs each week to the point that numerous times over the past couple of weeks it has been mentioned on WAFL World. 

We pay our memberships but get treated like school children. Hardly any news from the club on the new facilities. Even if there is nothing to report on just come out and say that. Keep the members informed. The only bit of good news recently was the long awaited scoreboard, which we have copped flack for this season. But did we find that out from the club. No. We had to come to a chat forum to find out about it. The club can’t even get the simple things right like keeping your paying members informed so how can we expect them to get the bigger things right.

Agreed, Mr AFL. Even on social media, there is nothing. The Twitter feed seems to be nearly 12 months old. All Facebook does is post team lists, plus copy and paste match reviews from the West. Plus spruik the auction, of course. The club must be aware of growing discontent among members. Either confirm that there is interest in alignment or state clearly that we are not going down that path. It is this silence that allows the rumours to fester.
