I'm sorry to say but I would think the fact Nisbett openly talked about an alignment with Perth in the media indicates discussions are already well advanced and he had agreement from PFC hierarchy to put it out there. If it was just a thought bubble then I doubt he would have even mentioned it.

All you non Perth supporters can get stuffed. Where was your care factor when we were asking for reviewed zones.

WC could ensure we get new zones and a new stand and nicely cashed up all within 5 years.

These next 5 years won't amount to a hill of beans anyway.

Trevor get us our new zone build our stand, load us up with some cash and throw in an sham flag. If so you can have 5 years.

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I doubt many of you have read the PFC constitution to understand how any alignment might take place.

Obviously Chief WC Flog Nothingtoseehere Nisbett hasn’t read it either.

Too much smoke blowing wild to deny that there is a fire starting to blaze out of control.
If Nesbitt is talking as he has been quoted then matters look grim. He has always got what WCE has wanted.
Seems Fait Accompli to me.
Over to you Mr President. Time to come straight out and quelch all the rumours or confirm what is going on.

The constitution won't allow an alignment without a 75% majority vote. That is why I imagine Nisbett is trying to re-brand it as a 'partnership" or, more vaguely, "some other model." I really can't believe that Perth fans are open to this. Think it through. The reports have spoken about Perth having 5 players a week, and the other club involved in the arrangement having 5 players a week. People may think that sounds fairly benign. But that is just a figure based on the average number of listed players in the reserves being 10. Sometimes there are 16 or more AFL players available - just ask Subi. So what then? Do we accept 8, 9, 10 players? Don't start to rationalise this.

The bottom line is this: we would have a number of players each week, who are not Perth players - they are not contracted to us, paid by us, don't train with us - and who force real Perth players into the reserves. That is what an alignment is. There is nothing in this for us. I don't believe it would make us successful, but even if it did, it would come at too great a price, namely our integrity and credibility.

The Eagles will want a long term, if not permanent, arrangement. This notion that we should do this for 5 years or so, cash in and back out, is something the Eagles will be desperate to guard against. They won't want to be shopping around for another club every few years. We need the club to come out with a public comment that the only Eagles players we will accept will be pursuant to the same reverse draft arrangement that the WAFL had previously. Otherwise, like EP, we will be selling ourselves and the whole comp out. The idea that we would be justified because the WAFL has done nothing to equalise the comp doesn't hold up. If anything, it just absolves them from having to address the issue. There are no positives. The Eagles are banking on one or more clubs accommodating them. Don't do it. Don't make it easy for them. Force them to a reverse draft or nothing position.

I haven't read your constitution SD but will it be an alignment like EPFC suffered (at the boards behest) or will be a player sharing arrangement similar to what happens in European football where say Chelsea wants one of the reserves or developing players is loaned out to a team in a lower division. In this scenario PFC is loaned WCE players and PFC get to use them in the league or ressies and those not playing there go to Queens Park Ammo's on loan.

That avoids the need for vote just a business arrangement at board and team management level.

Please do not take this a condoning or support for the process just another way of looking at how WCE and the WAFC get what they want!

LL sorry but I think you will find that the governing bodies for most sports do shit like this, the NBA, NFL FIFA etc a littered with decisions that have either stuffed up or ruined clubs.
NBA,NFL and WAFL................very similar business models.

I can read the article for myself, RL. It's obvious that the Eagles want to get an alignment through the backdoor. I fear some in our administration and fan base are open to it. There's nothing I can do about it. Should it require a vote under the constitution, I'll vote against it. If the vote is in favour, or if the player loan model bypasses the constitution, I walk away from the club and the WAFL. Given the attitude of EP fans towards your own alignment, I will assume that you will be consistent in refusing to condemn Perth and fully acknowledging the legitimacy of any success that might come our way under that model.
