Desperate times require desperate measures I guess....off field unlike EP, Perth are secure....on field with those junior zones, don't blame Perth one bit for spooning with WCE for onfield security.....

Bob's very keen on it by the look of his letter to us.

I think the Eagles will torch us if we don't give them 5 years.

They will somehow block our new zone or we will get their worst fringe players if it goes the way of the old system of player redistribution.

If we get into bed with them for 5 years with a clear plan out and with them setting up a new team in Joondalup (The Joondalup Hawks) to break the stranglehold on talent those North Western suburbs have whilst also  bringing  it to a 10 team comp (They would then align with them for 10 years to get them on their feet.

Lastly they would need to  ensure  our new stand is the best in the west and that we are cashed up at the end of this.

And to ensure we get to train on our new oval more often and to get first dibs on pre season scratch matches with them  etc etc.

Claremont, South, EP and Peel have a benifitted.

We can to if done right.

No one can get another team in the Northern suburbs to break down the ridiculous unevenness of the WAFL except the Eagles.

This has to be part of it for mine.

A bit left field I know.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Ted I’m pretty sure it was 50% but was changed to 75% a couple of years ago. Damian Matthews and I think Richard Camm wanted it and pretty certain it was passed at the AGM that year.

Sort of. Clause 19.1 Special Resolutions requires three quarters of members to agree at a general meeting where there is a quorum to pass. Clause 19.1.2 requires a Special Resolution in the event the club seeks to "affiliate the Club with another body".

However, Clause 19.3 requires any alignment with one of the WA based AFL clubs or allowing AFL players to play for Perth in WAFL sponsored games to be submitted to members for approval at a Special General Meeting as an ordinary resolution. An ordinary resolution only requires a majority of votes.

Either way, this thing is dead in the water as it should be. The next job is to turf the board and President.

One of Bobs big promises was communication to members and this has been non existent this year.

I’d like to know why the communication has been so poor this year from him and Russel Clark.

The West Coast stuff has been growing momentum for the last two months and neither bothered to make a comment or put to bed any concerns from members.

Why was the gala auction cancelled? Things that were taken out of our control was all that was said. What was out of the clubs control? Why aren’t we allowed to know?

The committee that’s in charge of organising the centurions lunch which is in 3 weeks still hasn’t informed the club of who the guest speaker/s are and they are still not taking reservations for seats or tables as they are unsure of what is going on. Since the date was announced at the last home game I’ve rung about 4-5 times and still meet with the same response. I feel sorry for the poor girl on reception. There was a bit of a stink last year regarding the centurions as it was never promoted and kept for the purple circle and their mates.

Dazzler the way it was explained to members at the AGM was that if any alignment was to be explored for it to happen it would need 75% of the members for it to go ahead. Or at least that is how I and others who were there on the night interpreted it.

Not arguing with what you’ve said it just very frustrating but at the same time a very Perth thing to happen to believe what you’re being told only for it to not actually be 100% accurate.

Just on the gala auction as well, they still had the auction but it was online. Now there didn’t seem to be a problem with communication to members about the online auction then. I received multiple emails regarding the online auction and where to go, items that were in the auction and when the auction was closing.

Communication was very good regarding this. Maybe because the club wanted people to put their hands in their pockets………..

Very perceptive of the previous board to specify, not just alignment, but also AFL players playing for Perth generally. That should ward off any danger of the Eagles and Shields getting clever by saying "it's not an alignment, it's a player loan agreement." Then we have to hope that more than the required number of members vote against it. Presumably, a vote would be required even for a reverse draft, as that would still be AFL players playing for us, but I doubt any members would have an issue with that. We all accept that Eagles players have to play somewhere, but I don't want to be exposed to taking an inordinate number of them, or to being ridiculed by other clubs for having an arrangement to have Eagles players that others clubs don't have. Everyone is on here now saying "I wouldn't blame Perth..." Horseshit. Do you seriously think we wouldn't be bagged up hill and down dale? We already get snide remarks just for sharing the ground.

Don't cut your nose off to spite your face boys. We need a pragmatic approach not an emotional one.

I wrote a much longer post but it timed me out by the time I hit post. Right now I can't be arsed writing it all again.

To be honest as an outsider looking in I'm struggling to see what benefit PFC will get. You take on board half a dozen or so new draftees and/or B grade AFL footballers and accommodate them in your team but what are you getting in return? Does WCE supply coaches or contribute financially? If so that's an alignment for mine but if they don't do any of the above outside of what's already agreed to as co-tenants, where's the sugar hit for Perth?
