It's happened to every junior club in the metro area at some stage over the 20 years.

Since you won't or can't answer it is the Swan Districts Football Club.

And not good enough by a long way. Name one club and year where 10 players from one junior footy club played for which WAFL club and the team folded because of this.

okay specifically who runs the competition that the Bassendean Junior Football Club play in? I am sure they participated in the junior parade at Basso last year.

Just so there is ABSOLUTELY NO AMBIGUITY do you mean that the body that organises the games that Bassendean JFC play in is the Swan District Football Club Inc?

No , the wafc arm of the district called the swans district. Totally separate to the sdfc, it's the same all over the metro area.

The wafc does a great job with junior football, it's only when the wafl clubs step in with self centered ideas it pulls apart the hard work.

Get it now?

QED.

Perhaps you can explain how the WAFC is doing such a "great job" when you have stated that junior clubs and/or their teams are folding all the time over the past 20 years? Or please explain the other litany of problems that you have stated in your posts?

Haha 42 apparently having a TAC Cup set up in WA then having players filter out to Amateur clubs when they turn 19 is the way forward for WA footy it would seem to some  ...thats of course if they even bother to keep playing.
Hows that 2% across the board of Colts players only making WAFL League footy looking? those SD figures posted from 07,08,14 would suggest incorrect!

One has to wonder what affiliation uhtb has to the WAFC given one of the specific problems with needing top-up junior players is because of the unavailability of players during the 18s competition and the AFL junkets.

One could also ask if the WAFC is doing such a "great job" why is there such a drop-out of players and the dearth of under 17s teams and competitions? Good thing they are doing such a wonderful job; just imagine what it would be like if they did a bad job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unholytugboat wrote: What I am against is come November the letters will go out, 100 kids will be sucked up into wafl colts preseason, decimating 17s comps and waafl colts teams.

I have had the conversations with junior clubs & parents. When they eventually come back to the level they belong at the team has folded due to lack of numbers, usually only just falling short.

If they took the best of the best, no problem. But they dont.

It would be neglectful of the WAFL clubs not to invite ALL of the kids that have some sort of talent and those that are deemed potential late developers.

Nathan Fyfe is the classic late developer. Grew tall very late

Kids would be disappointed not to be invited.

Although I wasn't a top junior, I remember getting an invite to try out and it was really special to me.

The squads are more or less sorted by now and those that didn't make it have plenty of time to register with a year 12 team or an amateur club.

Once again, none of this would even be discussed if the numbers at yr 8 to yr 12 were at a reasonable level for a city this size.
