Actually, I can only see 3 interstate recruits in total for this season.

Crowley (SD), Ellis (SD), Simpson (WP)

A very low number.

Lots filtering in from the ammos plus quite a few returning to WA from the AFL by the looks

These included debut game through to last payment at 200 games. Given the average career of an AFL player is 5-6 seasons then most clubs can earn $70k-100k from a draftee.

Junior club gets $1k if the drafted player is nominated for the NAB Rising Star. Used to be a payment to junior club if AFL player kicked a super goal in the preseason comp.

TT Swans' telephone number is 9279 8700 please give them a call on Monday. I am sure that they will be very interested to know that we should be getting a windfall from the likes of Walters, Pearce, Coniglio, Rance et al. Unfortunately, I don't have the number for the AFL;but I am sure you can find the number and give them a call and ask them, on behalf of all the WAFL clubs, why the WAFL clubs haven't been receiving this revenue.

I would however bet my left nut it's less than 10% across the board.

No mate - there is one payment & that's the $30K less WAFC tax to origin club of a a draftee

What I am against is come November the letters will go out, 100 kids will be sucked up into wafl colts preseason, decimating 17s comps and waafl colts teams.

I have had the conversations with junior clubs & parents. When they eventually come back to the level they belong at the team has folded due to lack of numbers, usually only just falling short.

If they took the best of the best, no problem. But they dont.

Perhaps you can provide which particular junior council/ WAFL club you are talking about.

All of them.

Usually they will have 4 or 5 age development squads, consisting of 60 kids. Yes 60.

Colts will invite 100+ cull down to squad of 50.

If, like the TAC cup. Better Coaches, better talent identification no need to pull so many kids away from competition s they are better suited.

Shhhh Southerner you are NOT ALLOWED to facts get in the way of a particular agenda. Whilst I am sure that there are legitimate problems within junior footy a lot of the problems could be eased if the AFL spent a small percentage of money that that are ploughing into the two Rugby league states. Of course they won't do that unless and until they have completed poured the WAFL history of 130+ years down the toilet.

Just imagine if the AFL was to provide each WAFL club an extra $2 million dollars ($18 million if you throw in the two WA domiciled AFL reserves' clubs) how much that would ensure a better WAFL product, more spectators coming through the gates to watch. Just imagine with those extra funds how much more the WAFL clubs could invest in their junior developments and zones that would provide more juniors for the junior footy clubs that would flow onto the senior amateur footy clubs.

But no, that won't happen; instead of that we will have a defunct WAFL competition and clubs. A sterile meat farm to fatten the draftees for the AFL clubs to use and spit out as they choose. A competition that has no history, no supporter base other than the current players' immediate family and friends.

And what can you say of the WAFC? Hopefully someone from the WAFC does read this and come to some of the scratch matches and explain to us WAFL supporters why they support the decimation of the WAFL? Why they feel that they are duty bound to ensure that the WAFL competiton goes the way of the dode and becomes extinct.

Alternatively, take a squad of 30 in November, need more players during the season, pull from local comps. Come January/ February, plenty of numbers to fill local comps.

Too easy

uhtb a couple of years ago Swans had 9 players in the 18s squad. You may or may not realise that means that for a number of colts' games they are not available for selection for our colts' team. You can then add a number of players that are not available during the PSA's footy season. Then there will always be a number of players unavailable due to injury. I presume you know that for each colts' match each team has 23 players.

It is also my understanding that colts' players not required to play in their WAFL team are available to play for their junior club.
