Viper, considering I am the only one here  to use the word "entrenched", I guess you are asking me? By entrenched I simply mean those junior clubs who have been in a WAFL clubs zone for a long time.......My brother played for Applecross and then EF under 19s back in the 70s...his grandson is heading in the same direction....majority of Applecross JFC kids play for EF rep teams and then EF colts if good enough, not all, but most....ditto Attadale JFC, Palmyra JFC,  EFFC, Booragoon JFC etc....thus the word "entrenched"...

Freezin, the clubs you mentioned are also close to EF, so the zoning makes sense. What about country zones? I have raised this before, but will again: is there any reason why Albany and Esperance, which belong to C and S, who are also blessed with a rich metro zone, shouldn't be allocated to another club/s?

nah not entirely bud as others are using different words but same thing. Others have said their WAFL club have worked their zone so hard and now losing pieces. Same same but different so not directed at you per say.

Most WAFL clubs are happy to take the kids but I'd love to know what exactly they are giving back and actually, to use your word but not directed straight at you, entrench themselves at their local clubs. Old easts might actually do this well and I'm hoping they do. Scouts might go out and look at local talent. I know East Perth talent management go and watch kids every weekend and Swans ask all their local coaches to just send the best kids. Not sure how asking the coaches to send the best players is working the zone so to speak but I am keen to understand exactly what WAFL clubs are doing for their junior clubs for getting their best players every year.

The AFL teams get smashed for taking the cream when they're in trouble and I see no difference here from WAFL clubs taking the cream of the kids for zero work.

TN Claremont also have the Ongerup League (Nat Fyfe, Liam Baker etc) and the 3 x Kimberley Leagues (West, Central & East) as their Country zone on top of their Golden metro zone!
But apparently it was audacious for EP to ask the WAFC to take over Albany/Great Southern from them according to renowned Claremont fanatic John Townsend!

Freezin, the fact that clubs are "immersed and entrenched" in their zones shouldn't matter. It's not a voluntary process. The fact that Caversham has been given to EP means that even being close geographically doesn't matter any more. So you are saying that Perth's choice is just to resign ourselves to perennially missing finals as a result of poor zones or compromise our identity and invite the scorn of other clubs by aligning?
East Perth already have ellenbrook.I've been told that East Perth's colt may train at whiteman park in the future. With the poor relationship with the city of vincent whiteman park is mentioned as  a site we may move in the future. If Subi get gnangara that also is a long way from leederville.
EP Colts train at Altone now. They going to move from there to Whiteman?

BH, it was audacious of EP to ask. Given their constant boasts about how much money they made during the alignment, their points concessions, getting zones a stones throw from Bassendean, and already having access to the South West, it would have been an outage for them to be given Albany. C can keep Ongerup and the Kimberley. But, apart from being "entrenched", is there any reason why SD shouldn't get Esperance and Perth get Albany?

I think this latest shuffle of the deck is going to cause even more trouble than we already have - it looks as though we pick up an old East Fremantle zone , that being Rockingham and east of that Baldivis
