Where was the concern then about zoning changes to help SD? In fact we even lost more of our zone quite incredibly. I am sure the Perth boys would have been around the same mark.

Instead of looking at the figures of those actually playing footy per zone it might be more relevant to see the numbers of eligible boys aged 9-17 in each zone and the percentages that have been successful in getting those kids to play our game rather than other sports or the x-box! Then we can also see which clubs have been actually working hard in their district rather than just sitting on their hands!

I recall Toddy saying something funny back in that era - "if pine trees could play we'd be doing alright"

They were Toddy's exact words TOO not long after we had finished last in all 3 grades yet again with barely a win between them in JT's 3rd & last stint as SD coach.
Toddy like all Swans fans must have been left absolutely flabbergasted when not even 10 years later the WAFC in yet another inexplicable decision gave the area JT was referring too to another WAFL club (that itself became a WCE host club for the 2nd time not long after) just as it was about to bare fruit after we had nurtured it from a pine plantation with just a couple of houses in the sticks.

Well I have just seen the teams in the year 11/12 centrals conference. Centrals being Perth, East Perth and Swans.

24 teams make up this conference.

11 are from Swans
8 are from East Perth
5 are from Perth.

Shame on you WAFC.

BTW it looks like they spread the Perth teams in each of the 4 grades.

You guessed it - after 5 rounds Perth's 5 teams are last 2nd last in each division.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Sounds like we aren't working our zones hard enough TFAF. Can imagine if Swans, Claremont or EF had our zone there would be double or triple the number of teams and most sitting top two. Shame on us not working our rich junior zone we are gifted with hard enough.
Get on your bike.

Good result for Perth getting those S/E Suburbs back they should always have had.

But how on earth can the WAFC justify SD losing 4 of their junior clubs to EP???
Including Caversham which is within walking distance of Bassendean Oval.....absolutely absurd stuff!
Swans have lost 6 metro clubs overall and gained nothing according to that report....unbelievable!
That 1 Premiership we have won in the last 31 years must have been 1 too many according to them as Subi who have won 9 flags in the last 18 years actually gained 2 new suburbs to our zilch!!!

Swans may be paying the price for their feedback to the recent parliamentary enquiry  when they gave the WAFC and Grant Dorrington a bake.
There is no logical explanation to why Swans are losing club's which are on their doorstep, especially given the fact that we have been in the bottom section of the ladder consistently over the past decade.
This is just a redistribution of zones amongst the least successful club's with Subiaco and Claremont pretty much untouched.

BH. Did you guys lose 4 clubs or 4 suburbs or a mixture of both? And I correct that Perth gained 3 metro suburbs and 2 country suburbs but no clubs.

It says we get Byford for example but when I google Byford JFC only Mundijong JFC comes up. Mundijong JFC is under South Fremantle. Does this mean kids living in Byford play for Mundijong and Mundijong JFC’s players will be split between Perth and South depending where they live but actually Mundijong will still be very much a South’s club?

Alexander Heights should go to East Perth not friggen Subi leave Caversham to Swans.

Claremont getting more - terrible

Great to see the Wafc make overdue changes to Wa's zones. But from the outside looking in.Its creating more problems than solutions.
Great to see Perth and East Perth get long overdue zone allocations.
Perth have picked up suburbs without junior clubs in those suburbs.East Perth get a big chunk of Swans zone. But lose Alexander Heights, which will be a disaster for Ballajura JFC.
Really Claremont -North Fremantle, lol.Thats where the consessions for  East Perth should of come,Claremonts Great Southern zone.As EP asked for.
Swans relationship with the Wafc will be at an all time low now.We need to stay quiet. The Wafl comp hasn't been self sufficient since the early 1980's.
Innaloo and Osborne Park border Mt Hawthorne+Joondanna. So they will fit in the EP zone ok.

I'm not impressed at all by this. SD have been royally shafted. I said in a post the other day that re-distribution of metro zones can be hard because, by and large, there needs to be some geographical proximity between zones and the WAFL. Giving EP Caversham blows that theory up. I reckon SD should push to get Esperance off Subi.

As for Perth... I had a look at SF list and discovered there is not a single player from Byford or Seville Grove. Is that because SF don't work that part of their zone enough, or because those suburbs are full of scrawny bogans? At least Byford could be described as a growth area. But Seville Grove is just an area that was excised from Armadale and re-branded to remove the stigma associated with Armadale. And Southern River is a bunch of boarding kennels at the back of Gosnells.
