Grassy wrote: Singha,are you missing a Zero with the SA figures or did only 12 000 watch the SANFL Match?

12 000?

That is Disastrous Figures for the Nation's Top Rating TV Network.Enough to warrant that network to drop any program,so why would they stick around with those figures.46 000 is bad enough for them.

We can't seriously believe 7 are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.So what is their Real motives for telecasting State League Footy?

They get paid by the WAFL to telecast it don't they?

The telecaster is not paid by the Wafl. The advertisers are paying the telecasters production company is how it works.
The sponsors fund the production and the funds are paid to the production company not to tv company. The Wafl clubs also contribute toward the cost. Said tv station does not invest any money into the telecasts. That is my understanding of it.

DW as long as the number of tweets and youtube views etc are increasing then everything is rosy in the alternate universe that is the WAFC.

What a damning indictment on the WAFC, How anyone from the WAFC could suggest that the WAFL competition is going well is downright certifiable and perhaps needs to remove themselves from their ivory tower and speak to some true WAFL supporters. As for the figure of 850 at Basso here is my breakdown:

Colts' players: 2 teams of 25 + 5 back-up players ===> 60
Colts' coaches and training staff: 2 * 10 ==> 20

Reserves' players: 2 teams of 25 + 5 back-up players ==> 60
Reserves' coaches: 2 * 5 ==> 10

League players: 2 * 22 ==> 44
Injured players ==> 6

Umpires (3 grades) & advisers ==> 40

For a total of 240. Plus about 260 spectators would give by my estimate about 500 at the very most.

Hey Grassy, I notice that you have been crook for around a week. I too was croook as you say. I had some sort of bizarre headache that has finally gone - Was it the same for you?? Just wondering if something going around
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I nearly collapsed in staggered disbelief when reading Hargraves comments.

Swan , that article annoyed me more than anything else. I've officially given up caring now. I'm lucky I have an enthusiastic mate. We will continue to go to the footy, have a couple of beers, discuss the game and go home. Tonight we just watched the 1988 grand final replay . How did we manage to get from there to here in such a short time

It was bloody cold at the Showgrounds! It took about an hour to get there with the riverside lanes of the freeway closed and as a result got to the game 15 minutes into the first quarter. There were about 50 to sixty at the halftime Past Players gathering. Saw a competitive match that went the distance. Smallest crowd I have seen at at WAFL match! My estimate 650.

Impossible to begrudge anyone for not attending WAFL yesterday. With weather like that I'm surprised anyone bothered. For those that did attend I applaud you, hope you didn't get too wet or cold and returned home safely to your families. Clubs should be greatful to any and all attendees that braved the conditions yesterday with very little comfort for spectators on hand.

Nothing to worry about fellas all is hunky dory in the WAFL according to the extremely well paid geniuses down at WAFC HQ...

-there has been a few extra WAFL channel you tube views, a couple of extra WAFL facebook likes, maybe 1 extra WAFL tweet all is grand in WAFL land...
-player number are up (fair dinkum they include everything that wasnt even around previously like womens football, masters rules, auskick participants that only have to show up to a few training sessions to be another number) as a junior who played through the PFC zone I know about 10 of the clubs that were around in the 80s-90s are now extinct ffs
-the fact that crowds are down 20% on last years very low base alone and we havent even reached the half way mark of the season should be raising alarm bells but not to the good commissioners ,
-3 clubs are virtually out of commission already,
-umpiring standards continue to plummet to new low depths never perceived possible and yet the same bloke that has overseen the dramatic standards drop for 15 years or more is still in the role
-the continued dominance of $ubi due to a financial arrangement not afforded other clubs even though their tax paying supporters helped build the joint at $ubi Oval
-& last but certainly not least the alignments continue to disgruntle the WAFL heartland supporters who are forced to watch young players their club developed play against them

Although I have tried to stay positive on the WAFL comp in the past this year has left me thinking the comp may not be around for too much longer and that hurts me to say as a WAFL diehard since I was knee high to a grass hopper but having witnessed some of the smallest crowds in history in 2016 says it all and those in the current management roles at WAFL HQ will have blood on their hands for allowing this former great 131 year old comp sink to lows never ever thought possible!
