969 at Basso - I must have miscounted the number of players, officials and umpires. As for the two devils incarnate's reserves teams 546 WHAT AN ABSOLUTE INDICTMENT on the following:

(i) WAFC Commission;
(ii) West Coast Eagles' supporters, members and club;
(iii) Fremantle Dockers' supporters, members and club.

More likely it was the televised game at an awkward time 11.40 am in most probably the worst conditions of the day.i have never been to Mandurah to watch a game in twenty years and very likely may never.

Absolutely everything stacked up against people attending the games, primarily the weather, the game at centrelink park was early and right in the worst of the weather so the WART faithfull would have looked at that and said "nup" stay home and watch their reserves team on the box followed by their league team on the box.

Given it was top against bottom and crap weather, not a bad effort up at Bogundean and from all reports a pretty good game for 3 qtrs. Su had a promo of bring a mate for free which I did so that helped but at one stage I tried to count those in the outer getting frost bitten and soaked, just managed to get to 40. The clubrooms were chokers with a function on and the stand was well populated but that was about it.

Joondy suppporters nice and vocal especially in the last so that created a modicum of atmosphere. Lets pray for nice fine sunny days Saturday & Sunday with 4 pretty good contests spread over the weekend, Sundays CL v SD is the TV game with a 12.10 start, should be a real opportunity for SD to back up some improved form and challenge the Tiges

I've just run a couple queries on my database for crowd numbers ...

(Note: I do have limited attendance records prior to 1968)

The 4 games attendance of 3320 is the lowest since 3208 attended round 17 1936. The only other instance post 1968 of attendances for 4 games of below 4500 was in round 9 2015 when the figure was 4349.

There's been 11 other instances of under 5000 attending all 4 games in a single round since 1995 I don't have any others after 1941.

I'd imagine there would be some additional low figures in the underage competition during ww2

The 546 attending Peel and EP was Peels lowest ever attendance and the two games vs EP this season have been their lowest and 4th lowest in their history. The crowds double as the Lowest EP attendances since 1987 and this Saturday's crowd the lowest I have for EP since 1940.

EP crowds (ave 1719) this year are their lowest since before WW2. Peels ave of 1209 is the lowest in their history.

Worrying signs indeed.

From what I can see, the attendances are currently just a tick over minus 18 thousand behind from the corresponding week 10 of last season. Which is a HUGE difference.
The same Round 2 Week 10 fixture from last season attracted just over 14 ½ thousand.

While you're at it wff, maybe send a copy or two over to the sports minister?
Although I do realise there's a chance big business might have her wrapped up in their pocket!
But maybe worth a try?

I have seen 3 firsts in my 36 years of weekly WAFL footy this year which should demonstrate to all but the ostriches at WAFC HQ that all is not well in WAFL land-

a) No West Perth chant crew at the SD vs WP game earlier this year
b) No Wayne (and the Bulldog flag boys) at the SD vs SF game last week
C) No Swans Forever chant this season at Basso (tho our form hasnt warranted it)

This on top of the East Perth chant long gone from EP games

*ps With any luck the bearded Tigerskin foghorn will add to the above list on Sunday! :cheer:

He was there amongst the 755 diehards last Saturday when the Tigers played the Sharks........although somewhat muted compared to previous encounters! :P :)

C22 Why was the game played at 11.40 am? Answer because the WAFC agreed to the time. I re-iterate it is a damning indictment on the WAFC's complete and utter disdain of the WAFL competition.

Perhaps every one on here can go to the WAFL website 100 times a day and watch 20 youtube videos of the WAFL competition. Just imagine how great the WAFL competition would be going under those circumstances.

Every game I've been to this season, the crowds have felt significantly down. The figures shown above are absolutely damning. Sad to see after some decent attendances a few years back.
