That really made my Sunday.

It's bad enough watching the Blue Rinse set at Subi, turn on their cheesy grins,en masse.

Don't worry Grassman there is more chance of both Freo teams merging once they start sharing Frem oval, it makes perfect sense and should have happened 15 years ago as the derby rivalry is dead and buried apart from a few old men at the game. The Perth Deby rivalry was far bigger the past decade or so up until East Perth ceased to be a WAFL club 3 years ago, The Shockers would be staying at Freo too then and have their ressies at the one ground. Also Peel would then develop into a team of their own taking South Fremantles zones
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Now that it is almost possible to have a sensible conversation about WAFL attendances, here is my view of the disturbing trend regarding the continuing drop of attendances in the past two seasons. My estimate of the crowd for yesterday's game at Leederville would have been 1,400 at the very maximum. It also appeared that this figure was substantially boosted when the junior players playing at half time and their parents arrived shortly before the league game.

We have had the two lowest attendances for WAFL Grand Finals in more than 60 years in 2014 and 2015. In games this season and last year there has been a significant drop in attendances as evidenced by at least 2 if not 3 games this year attracting fewer than 1,000 people.

It is patently obvious that the flow on affect of Channel 7's telecast has not flowed onto attendances at WAFL games. What can we do to redress this situation; because it is patently obvious that the WAFL clubs cannot continue if this trend continues?

Will be interesting to hear the 7 Wafl clubs thoughts, come seasons end!
I know West Perth are keeping a close on attendances. As all the clubs probably are doing the same. it directly affects the clubs revenues. I'm not sure what the cut-off point is? I never dreamed the Wafl would get to such a bad state of affairs as currently being experienced. I know the early 1990's were bad in relation to attendances but didn't think we would be revisiting those days?

Pity we don't have many more like Brett in the Wafl. It would be a better competition I think?

Swans President Peter Hodyl is also a WAFL man to his boot straps.

Does anyone have the crowd figures for the round of fixtures just played? I would be most grateful.

Don't mean to sound dumb here, wonder how it is that there's no Wafl people like these (mentioned above) on the commission? Do their applications become rejected or something? If the commission had more active Wafl people that actually stood up for the Wafl competition, it would send a positive message. Would it not? Instead of the current negativity! Footy fans would see the positive vibes. That would be one way to start attracting people back to the footy.
If the current low crowd numbers continue, makes me feel cold thinking about crowd numbers next season! Wouldn't be worth the teams running onto the ground would it?
