Its obvious they are trying to get the Dockers supporters/membership through the gate to watch this team because noone else goes...theres not much interest in Mandurah for this club!
Although i think for now they will stay where they are and drop the Peel Thunder bit and re-name themselves the Mandurah Dockers!

peel would be wise to change their name anyway. dont see a problem given their lack of history.

i only wish that the eagles formed their own wafl club and left east perth alone. therefore creating an even amount of teams and giving our club back to us.

should have been done along those lines in the first place

Jardine, that would have been the perfect scenario.

But unfortunately they grew impatient with Clubs bleeting so much.

It will be devastating to loyal supporters such as your self jardine, but I believe it is inevitable that the East Perth name will disappear - similar to what will happen to Peel. The only way out would be for the members to vote in 5 yrs time, but after 2 or 3 flags in that time, it won't happen. Good heavens, I can't imagine how I would feel had the butchers of the WAFL chosen my beloved club.

Not sure why everyone is surprised at the news!?
It was going to happen sooner or later. If my large company absorbed a smaller one, I wouldn't use 2 company names for the same business either. And as for the comment re: I can't imagine how I would feel had the butchers of the WAFL chosen my beloved club.
I can verify it makes you feel like you've been pushed off a cliff!!!
But hey, what's good for big business is good for everybody apparently.

Give Fremantle and West Coast the opportunity to buy Peel and East Perth. They can then fund their own team instead of having the WAFL contributing, and the money saved can them be distributed amongst the remaining 7 teams instead of 9. The 2 AFL clubs then pay a yearly licence fee to have their team playing in the WAFL.

There is no doubt Ep will eventually go down the same route.

More importantly Shark I think EF and SF supporters have the most to be concerned about about this big change, for 110 years there have only ever been two Fremantle Clubs in the WAFL, now there will be three, not only that but the new one will have massive marketing power and public acceptance and appeal, expect this to have a devasting impact on both SF and EF bottom line in attracting sponsors and supporters, this is yet another huge blow to the two traditional fremantle clubs by the dockers.
