Do you have any idea whatsoever or are you just brain dead??? Swans played Claremont FFS who have less supporters then Boulder City, if Swans played WP, EP or P in a GF there would be 30,000 there EASILY! Now off ya go to watch your underachieving flops the Dorkers lose to Richmond easily!

Swans have never ever made or broken a grand final GF attendance record in the entire history of the WAFL.your dreaming and firmly have your hand on it.

Wrong AGAIN Chris D  ...The 1962 & 1965 SD vs EF Grand Finals were Record Attendances at that time!!

As a Subi supporter it hurts to say it but us and Claremont probably have the lowest supporter base and have to agree with BH that if we get a Swans , west perth, east perth or maybe even Perth after there prolonged period out of the big one we could again get 30000 again at a WAFL GF . I hope so and have been to the last 13 grand final s even as a neutral .
Keep the faith !

just getting back on the subject, instead of chest beating, looking 10-20 years down the track how are we looking as a comp in terms of interest. fact is its a big challenge coming the other way. alot of diehards will be either dead or wearing nappies again (hopefully not me). if we dont harness a different tactic or attitude as hard as that is for us traditionalists, dont expect clubs like swans east & west perth or anyone else to gather 30000 to a grand final.

subi likely to not exist

waca likely to exist

just looking ahead rationally, they will be looking at it you can guarantee that.

on the subject of subi & claremont they are great well run clubs. both a marketers dream if someone could weave some magic there. claremont with their new facilities could certainly gather some outside interest. i dont know what the answer for all wafl clubs is, but we need some direction. anyway i am still reeling over north last night. my god one damn point. bloody cruel game.

Claremont & Subi have been so strong for the last 27 years with one or the or the making almost every GF in that time since the Budgies inception.
If it were a Swans, WP, EP or P who were as dominant as C & S have been in this era we would not even be having this conversation.
Of those 27 years the few seasons where neither C nor S made the GF have had crowds over 30k to the GF!
Maybe the WAFC should be looking at how they can get clubs like SD, WP, EP & P being strong enough to match the likes of C & S or what it has been that makes those 2 clubs so strong over a long period of time ..but I wont hold my breath waiting!

anchorman wrote: I have no idea how many the WACA hold now but is still a much better option that Subi regardless.
The last ten years has not produced a crowd of over 25,000 at a WAFL G?F.24,638 was the biggest between Claremont and Swans.
WACA would be ideal.

So the idea a/man is to disenfranchise WAFL supporters from going to the Grand Final. What a wonderful marketing tool that would be.

A/man you need to check the figure and you can't possibly be euating Claremont's supporter base with that of West Perth.

The top two WAFL GF;s
South Fremantle v East Fremantle 1979 52 781
South Fremantle v West Perth 1975 52 322

Top Attendance Since the AFL Era

South Femantle v Claremont 1989 38 193

Swans have not featured in any of them.

but SOUTH have in ALL!

When South played in 1989 over 38, 000 turned up , that record has never come close to being beaten in the post AFL WAFL, the very next year when swans played just 26,000 turned up, not even close.

I think the top post AFL era attendances have been
89 SF v C 38, 193
93 C v WP 32 404
97 SF v EF 32 371

Sorry guys the FACTS just don't bear out the myth of the black and white army.
