i remember watching ep play sf at the waca. no idea what year.

but i do remember we left at 3/4 time to catch a prior engagement with ep about 8 goals in front. souths came back in i think peter sumich soccered a point on the siren to give souths a one point win. i am sure i turned off the car radio so hard i snapped the button in disgust.

swandog this swans boy with the hoodie wasnt shoplifting was he ?

Jardine do you remeber David Bain taking a massive mark on Craig Nelson's shoulders in a game at the WACA in about 88?

When this was first mooted (playing at the WACA) Townsend said that it would be easy for the WACA to be extended by a few meters to accomodate the aussie rules fixtures (ooh - am I still allowed to say aussie rules...?)

no terror i cant recall that one with nelson

we loved little bainy, he was a gem. did ok for himself in the afl too. funnily enough i remember david bain of all people taking out big garry sidebottom at bassendean one day. he got garry off guard more or less, but the little bloke gave us all a hell of a laugh that day. i reckon sidey probably thought it was worth a chuckle too. very very funny.

terror one memory i have of a big grab was bewicks mark back in the early 80s against us. it was at leederville and it was astounding how much lift he got. was hard not to applaude it. sensational memories. great to see fellows today like mugumbawa still flying for speccies. watched him on tv recently great entertaining stuff

i do remember going to a double header there years ago. i went because my son was playing little league i think and we watched perth/souths and im sure it was westperth/clare. there was a good 10,000 there and a great atmosphere.

yep mate i was there that game, it was perth v south and it was 9000 - 10 000 crowd - great atmosphere, remember it well.

The other thing is if WA gets its Rugby side which it will as huge following here will they play at the WACA? Will it be their home ground or will they use Perth oval or even the New stadium?

Rugby has a huge following in WA??? Surely you jest Cardy!!
The WACA was a great venue for WAFL footy back in the 80's & 90's but after they ridiculously demolished the historic Farley Stand & the old players pavilion they also brought the boundaries in about 20m at each end thus making it too small in length now for footy!

Good grief SD! You let a golden opportunity slip past there fella! What you should have done was whip your camera out of your pocket. Then taken a snapshot of the young fellow wearing his Swan Districts hoodie. The rare sight would have been captured. Then you could have either a) passed the photo onto your grand-children to show them there was a Wafl. Or b) Being a rare sight, someone may have offered you a large amount of money for said photo? You could have been wealthy this time next week?

I dont jest my friend. Rugby League has a huge following here as much as you might hate it.. They get good crowds to the games the NRL puts on here and believe me more will come on board if it ever gets going again after the Reds fell down not because of the supporters or the Players of the day.
It will certainly be a big threat to the WAFL in the future if the WAFL does have a future :( Membership will be huge... Believe me
