In 2007 a state government report recommended against the further development of Subiaco Oval, which would be demolished in 2016. I was under the impression Leederville Oval would then become like the centre piece of the Wafl. But then again with the Wafl taking it's last breathes and looking very wonky because of these damned alignments, the thought of pouring money into Leederville Oval probably won't happen. The money from Subiaco Oval maybe to be spent on Perth Oval because of the rugby and soccer, and the WACA for the cricket because the developers have their fingers in the pie too. I think the works at the WACA are due for completion in 2015 aren't they?

Both the WAFC and the sports minister have at times (in recent years) said that MAYBE they'd like to keep subi as a BOUTIQUE ground. This would involve demolition of some stands which would reduce capacity and make maintenance a lot more affordable. I really don't know what the official stance on Subi Oval is at present. Like I said - I think its a pointless idea.

Anyway, your 2007 report I suspect is the one that recommended Subi was at the end of its use by date as an AFL venue - which led to the Langoulant report which was completely ignored by Colin Liar anyway.

This report does not necessarily say that the oval should not be used for other purposes. As a smaller venue it would still be viable (but probably a luxury).

the government have wasted millions on continued revamps of the Waca and Subi. where does it all end?

Having seen Etihad and the way it all works there, Subi Oval is a terrible venue. Agree anchorman it needs the bulldozers asap.

would love to see the 3-tier stand retained for historical purposes. would certainly be a landmark for subiaco in general. some great memories since the Perth/South Freo Grand final in 1970. some legendary names have played in front of that stand. Old but Iconic.

I don't think we will ever see a 30,000 plus crowd again at a WAFL game or G/F.
Since 1987 we have had only eight crowds of over 30,000.
Since 1995 we have only had four of over 30,000.
And I guess you all know what those years represented.

I agree - there wont be any plus 30,000 WAFL GF;s anymore , those days are gone, If there are it will be some sort of once in a blue moon freak - next year the host club deal starts and in a decade heap more 60 plus WAFL olf stagers will kick the bucket.

25,000 is ideal for a WAFL boutique ground.

I remember that leederville was supposed to be developed into a boutique home of WAFL, well its taking a long time and whats there so far is pretty ordinary.

The WACA has all the faclities there ready to go , bars, catering and most importantly good lights, I would love to see a night WAFL GF there in the future.

The capaicity is already 20,000 with potential to expand to 24, 500 for special events - they just put up temporary seating..that is more than enough for WAFL.

Its a real pity the old WANF Members Stand was demolished that was a real landmark

also the old Farley Stand at the WACA why that was pulled down I have no idea as there is nothing there at all now

;) yes bazza not a pretty landmark, but it would stand out. it has been a big part of subiaco for a long time. much like that tower that leans over in italy.

Do you have any idea whatsoever or are you just brain dead??? Swans played Claremont FFS who have less supporters then Boulder City, if Swans played WP, EP or P in a GF there would be 30,000 there EASILY! Now off ya go to watch your underachieving flops the Dorkers lose to Richmond easily!

Swans have never ever made or broken a grand final GF attendance record in the entire history of the WAFL.your dreaming and firmly have your hand on it.
