All I know is SANFL are talking to 9 as well. Maybe I dont like change and would like to see the ABC keep it. Dont trust commercial channels when it comes to Grass Roots sports.. Its all about money.

The other thing that would go would be the replays that ABC show of SANFL/VFL AND WAFL on ABC1 during the week.
They also have it on IVIEW on the computer. Both were a good service to country/interstate and overseas WAFL fans or people travelling

Haha yeah I remember the late Bruce Walker mate he used to do the commentary on the Sheffield Shield telecasts on 9 from the WACA ..I will always remember him calling an interstate batsman from NSW as being clean bowled off Bruce Reid even tho he had played on with a massive inside edge onto the stumps ..myself, my old man & my uncle still have a laugh over that call to this day!!

yes bruce walker was a bewty. Im sure he did some commentating back when the americas cup was off fremantle. he tried hard, gotta love him for that.

i sincerely hope we dont lose the abc coverage. the afl would be wise to help them cover some running costs as they are a valuable tool for recruiters.

maybe having a commercial network covering wafl would enhance the comp. therefore making it a viable option for the abc executives. why cant we run with both if it were possible. an example would be this weekend. the abc are televising WestPerth v South Freo. what a great opportunity for channel 9 to cover EastPerth v Swans.

i cant understand anyone who bags the abc coverage. i think they do a magnificent job with the resources they have. thank god we have it. good luck if we didnt.

Personally I think if Ch9 were to pick it up it would be a good thing for the comp. WAFL has not been on commercial TV since 1987 I think when TVW 7 dropped out.

I can see far more sponsors coming on board with commercial coverage.

Ch 2 have a tremendous history with WAFL they have provided coverage particuarly to country areas since the 1960's. It will be sad to see them go. I think they do a good job with the resources they have.

But speakingas someone who is related to a person who worked for a very long time at ABC Perth I can tell you the local production budget now is virtually zero, they have huge financial pressures to try to provide local news and weather just from that budget. As many of you know just about all local production ended years ago, the old Statewide show is now just once a week, the old Football Panel show is long gone, Greenfingers got the chop years ago. The new ABC offices in East perth are tiny compared to the old Adelaide Terrace buidling with studios etc. if the boffins in Sydney had their way even the Perth ABC news would be done from NSW.

Will that mean dozens and dozens of stupid bloody advertisements plastered all over the damned screen with just a little bit of football between them? To give an example, have a look at the cricket coverage on the commercial networks! It is simply a waste of time looking at the tv coverage and listening to the cricket on abc radio is far superior. Personally I cannot see the commercial coverage being better but will be happy to be proved wrong. We should be moving forward but I'm afraid this crazy world is going backwards.

Dont care who covers the WAFL as long as they do a good job and promote the competition,something the WAFL and WAFC dont do.

If the 9 folk broadcast it and AHG are a major sponsor will Bronte cop a break or will he still be pilloried even tho' AHG's dollars support most clubs.

I reckon 9 knows now that peel are being renamed and badged as the dockers and east perth the eagles, they will get a few more viewers and thus adds, ou can almost put money on the fact each week the wafl game will feature a game with the dockers or east perth eagles in it,

It is up to those supporters of the club formerly known as East Perth to come to terms with what he has done.

Wot can't answer the question or just to proud to accept that he keeps your club afloat as well your other sponsors.
