The issue is the drainage underneath the surface more so than the turf on top I would of thought?
If that isnt fixed and that clay base removed we are continually going to have the same problem year after year!

The long range weather forecasts are for wet and windy conditions until late October. Where  are in a weather pattern called the Indian Ocean Diphole.Like last year we can expect close to 900 mm of rain .Currently where just under 600 mm,so winter is only 2/3 of the way through.
Yesterday Tim Gossage posted on Facebook that Leederville did not pass the serface inspection.
Like BH said the problem is the drainage
There's no easy fix as the serface needs to be removed.Without a spring thaw it's a tricky few weeks coming up at Leederville.

WP v EP game has been moved to Moss St, I think that will be the case for all remaining games scheduled for Leederville. They should go to either Moss St or West Coast stadium, whichever is availabale. West Coast's season is finished after this weekend.

I cannot believe you would risk GF Day an all the prep with the possibility of rain and flooding 24 hrs before bouncedown on an oval that may be ruled out for use????

Just mind boggling stupidity.

EF playing at the WACA and paying a mint for the privlege and losing a mint at the same time, just 600 at the last Derby , their members cannot be stuffed with the drive so zero bar takings.

Because EF was supposed to not  to be in action for this year...but it actually is just not by EF.

While EF Oval remains a more viable ground than the ground selected by the WAFC to play the WAFL GF at in a few weeks,

WAFL management at all levels as dysfunctional as ever.

Kafkaesque World.

If this is the last derby crowd figure it is a little out. The official figure was 1500.

The WAFC are in for a disaster GF. If they think September is going to be fine, they are kidding themselves. September is the dodgiest month of the year.

Baz it looks like the Wafc has given up on the Waca.Once east Freo leave that's it for footy there..And there upgrades will all be at a ground that doesn't have a scoreboard, lol.
As much as I like Bassendean..It's Leederville or Freo oval if where done at Optus forever.

Average rainfall in September is 82mm, last year there was 62 mm in the month. The Bureau of Meteorology projection is that chances are that we will receive average rainfall this September (unlike some other parts of the country who are expecting a wet spring). If this happens it should give the turf at Leederville a chance to recover as long as there is no training or games on the ground during the month. Just for context there has been over 300mm of rain in Perth over the past 6 weeks which is well above average even given it is winter.
