I get it that the 2 AFL teams and state government are basically keeping the WAFC and by extension the WAFL afloat financially, but who owns the licenses ffs? They should be made to contribute to WA footy whether they have reserve teams in the WAFL or not. The Eagles in particular are a financial behemoth in a 2 horse town on the back of the WA footy public and given their bank balance, should be told to contribute more to grass roots footy.
BC we might have trouble agreeing whether it is day or night but on this we definitely are in synch with our views.  If the lily-livered WAFC had shown a backbone for once we would have a buoyant and sustainable WAFL competition.  The WAFC should levy the two WA domiciled AFL clubs sufficient funds to ensure the viability of the WAFL clubs and competition.  As BC has stated the WAFC holds the licences of the two clubs.

Grump, if what your wife heard is accurate then the easy solution is for WCER & Peelmantle to step out of the comp for the remainder of the year, or until they get back to pre lockdown situation, leave it to the 8 WAFL clubs, re-jig the fixtures and get on with it. Or whoever was due to play either reserves team gets a forfeit, picks up 4 points but no percentage. Why trash the whole comp because the two primadonnas cant field teams. One other alternative is to end the H & A season now and play finals, neither reserves team would have made the finals anyway.
On the premise that the information is correct, Peel should be removed from the WAFL FOREVER and the WCE reserves team should never see the light of day ever again.

42...I think we agree on quite a few things. For instance, I think we both are of the view AFL listed players should align back to their original WAFL club when not playing AFL seniors thereby eliminating the need for WCER and Peel, both AFL clubs should inject more into the WAFC...maybe as a percentage of EBIT or similar and John Howard is Australia's greatest modern day PM...see we're not so far apart after all. ;-)

BC you were going so well until you decided to stick your tongue firmly in your cheek with your last comment.

Does anyone have access to the West to see if they can find the article?

get them both out - if they don't feel up to fielding sides just omit them from the fixtures
Their drafting doesn't come from within so there is no reason to have this bullshit
this is bringing home more reason to distribute players among the clubs evenly

Doubt surrounds the immediate future of West Coast’s WAFL team after the absence of the club’s AFL-listed players proved critical to the postponement of this week’s matches. The WA Football Commission confirmed that all round 13 matches would be postponed – probably until the last weekend of August with finals moved back a week – due to uncertainty over the latest COVID lockdown and unavailability of any AFL-listed players this weekend. The Perth and Peel shutdown was due to end early on Saturday morning but WAFL manager Scott Baker said the uncertainty over football’s return and the absence of any AFL-listed players prompted the decision to postpone this round. “The health and safety of all players and the uncertainty around State Government restrictions meant the WAFC has made the decision to postpone games,” Baker said.“No AFL-listed players from either club are able to participate in State leagues for the coming weekend.”The WAFLW grand final between Peel and Swan Districts due to be played at David Grays Arena in Mandurah on Saturday will also be rescheduled, probably to next month.West Coast and Fremantle took most of their players to Melbourne on Tuesday in anticipation of an extended period away from Perth. The Eagles hope to return on Sunday but may not be able to field a reserves team if they are required to remain in Melbourne when the WAFL restarts, potentially forcing them to withdraw from the league for the second time in as many seasons.“We will have to start working through all of that over the next week,” Baker said.Last-placed West Coast have averaged 10 listed players in each WAFL match this season but have used 12 and 15 senior Eagles in their two wins in their most recent outings.West Coast have played every WAFL team at least once – with East Fremantle the only team they have played twice. It is possible that West Coast’s big win over East Fremantle last Saturday would be voided to ensure an even spread of matches against the rest of the competition.Peel are expected to continue in the competition but may be forced to play without any Fremantle players. They have averaged eight Dockers a game this season.

As a matter of interest have the Eagles returned to their original WAFL clubs the two players they drafted in the mid-season draft?

Yer dreamin BC.  That would be akin to asking Gina Rinehart et al, to pay more tax because they have more money than everyone else.
