Jesus Bazza, give it a rest will you mate.

Why do you care if people reckon the gf should be at HQ?

Optus is NOT WAFL League HQ.

That place is now a High School.

So considering all WAFL grounds (bar Claremont & Lathlain) can only nowadays hold about 12-15,000 tops comfortably with all of the restrictions placed on them (areas set aside for portable toilets, food outlets, etc) then you would have turned away approximately 10,000 WAFL fans (and potentially future WAFL fans) in both 2010 & 2018 and anywhere between 3,000-5,000 in most of the other years, it must be remembered that the very wet 2014 GF also had the WCE alignment team EP playing which was a huge turnoff at that time not just for loyal Royals but true hardcore WAFL fans in general.

What logic and a truly great advertisement that would have been for loyal WAFL fans, possibly missing your team play in a GF because it was held at an unsuitable small dilapidated venue!

And that’s why you’ll never be president of Swans zero nouce and would risk the club losing a mint.
Just because it wasn't the answer you wanted, it doesn't make it the wrong answer.

If I was President no more free lunches for the WAFC.

Th reality is it is the wrong answer and utter obfuscation and quite laughable, we all know the Swans board would vote overwhelmingly to host the WAFL GF at Bassendean in a flash if given the chance, the members and supporters would flock to the ground, the Club would bank a mint and deluded clowns like you would be irrellevant and SDFC would probably celebrate a premiership with an electric pulsating atmosphere at home. And back to the original point of this thread, what looks better on TV - yes a packed Basso,

Anyway SwanALP42 - I clearly you making pius statements about how you strongly opposed Barnett's Burswood Stadium and saying you would not go to Barnett stadium unless it was built at Subi.

Comical
Let me point out that I don't speak for the the SDFC board.  I was asked an hypothetical of what I would do if I was the SDFC president.  I gave my answer.

I have pointed out that the Langoulant report did not favour locating the new stadium near the Belmont Park racecourse.  Let me point out also that Langoulant is not on the Labor side of politics.  The report pointed out the extra costs involved in building the stadium in its current location.

I don't recall ever posting such a comment; but let me point out that I have not been to the new stadium.  The only reason I would have to go there would be if Swans were to make the GF and it was played at the new stadium.

Yep....I agree with 42 and STD. If you ask the players as they did last year, all said they had a preference to play at Optus as they'll probably never get another chance and it also befits the occasion. Also take into account spectator comfort. No suburban ground has the facilities to cater for 20,000 spectators even with temporary loos, kiosks, bars etc. It's still a very uncomfortable experience and an unnecessary one when you consider we have a state of the art $1 billion plus stadium available.
Exactly, just like amateur clubs get to play their grand final at a WAFL ground and that has always been the case when there was no AFL. It's like a reward for making the grand final, it's a showcase event and both players and spectators should be rewarded with playing and viewing the WAFL grand final at the best venue. Some years the crowd will be low, other years a bumper crowd. I want to enjoy the best facilities where I know I will be able to sit in a comfortable seat under cover if necessary and have plenty of food and beverage options and decent toilets I don't have to walk half a mile to and queue up.
It is a very, very strange world we live in when DD, BC and me agree on something!!!

Congrats on this impressive research Bazz. Maybe you would be happier if less than 500 turned up. You would definitely win the argument.

Mate go and put the ‘F’ into ‘Fresh’ and get a life.
Perhaps the inclusion of the teams playing off in those GFs might have been illuminating as well.

I can well imagine Perth supporters' feelings if they missed out on going to a Perth GF.

i will try to put some perspective on this issue. i was fortunate to get a ticket to attend the 2020 grand final but only to watch the colts grand final.i left at the end  and with crowd limits somebody missed out on seeing  the league grand final.the issue is to have a venue which allows a bigger crowd but limits profit or a smaller venue which restricts crowds but can guarentee  bigger profits.cosidering wafl is struggling financially unless a lot better deal can be done at optus i don't  think we will be using optus..

the 2021 Grand will not be at Optus Oval - and the offers to host received and decision process is already underway at the WAFC as to which ground hosts this year's Grand Final

get your facts straight - I have never said it is a good outcome and I think it should be at the best stadium we have
But it isn't going to be
