I'd really love to experience something like the Americas Cup revamp being planned mate - there's some serious potential for the Town to get itself warm again
It's lost some of it's charm and history and in some respects become a place for pissheads and fast food addicts - which is a shame given it's rich food history
There's real potential waiting to be uncovered once more

I guess if the WAFC is happy to play a GF at Freo Oval with the disgraceful concrete tiering in full view then optics is not high on their list of priorities.

Must be confused BC , the entire area was covered in people, no concrete to be seen and actually looked great on tele , as opposed to the usual sea of empty plastic seats at subi or optus.

Its not the piss heads and fast food jokers, they have been there since freo was founded, its a port after all, its the homeless bums and vagrants that cause the problems.

Step one to me is The Port, we are finally on the way with a new Container Port in Cockburn, that leaves the way forward as a Darling Harbour, Port Melbourne Style Revamp of North Quay and Vic Quay with apartment style developments along the harbour and upgraded passenger terminal, as well as a pleasure craft marina, tie it all in with the Maritime Museum which has never really taken off due to being isolated at the end of the warf,  It could be the most sensational port on the Indian Ocean, has massive potential.

Step 2 is Fremantle Oval, get the oval alignment re done, a new members stand revamped Vic Pavillion, decent seating capacity of the Prison side idealy of around 20K in total , TV Quality Lights, with the Warders Hotel up and running now and the Old Court House Brewery on the way that and the Old Synagogue makes it a sensational location. History and fine food wines and ales abound.

Mate...please take your red and white glasses off.  It looked shite on tv with no shade, no seating, people perched on concrete steps with dirt and rubble in the background.  FMD, it looked like a poor country ground not the premier footy event of the state's highest footy league.

Nup -  All I could see was a sea of faces,  A lot better than empty plastic seats. No idea about the piles of dirt and rubble must be getting confused with Leederville.

Perhaps someone can confirm whether this is accurate.  I was under the impression that seats were not allowed to be brought into Freo Oval for the GF.  If it was true, I presume that was a decision made by the WAFC rather than South Freo FC.

Spot on BC.
It may as well have been an F Grade Amateurs GF being played as it was such a poor look at a run down suburban venue.

I do miss the Subiaco Oval Septembers already but I'm realising Septembers are going to be played elsewhere now - so a revamped Fremantle Oval with modernised and even increased facilities for everyone becomes valuable and worthwhile
Can envision something quite special if it gets together properly

But Freo oval in its proposed new format wont have a decent capacity, imagine SD v Pth in a GF (unlikely at the moment I know) but there would be easily 20k plus fighting for tickets. Play it at Optus and be done with it. Now that Subi look like they are back with the pack the GF no longer looks like a forgone conclusion, looks more attractive to more people.

The WAFL banked $250,000 for the day, as opposed to a 150,000k loss at Optus for the second year running.

As this stage based on those figures alone it wont ge going back to Optus anytime soon.
