Have often thought the same

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Was wondering, is it possible to have the TV cameras on the other side of the ground at, for example Lathlain and Claremont, where there are no fans and no space for fans on the outer. It's not a good look....an empty outer...whereas if the camera was positioned on the outer Lathlain and Claremont it would present  a busy ground. At the other grounds there are still outer banks to sit on and I hope they don't disappear like CL and Perth.

Is this possible? Or is it too expensive?

Have often thought the same. We're probably not that far advanced in this country.
The abc used to have the grandstand camera, 2 cameras on the broadcast side and the hand held one for interviews etc.
One would think having a camera (or maybe 1 and a handheld) situated on the outer side would not be too difficult to accomplish. Having said that, it may depend on how long the cabling is or would the cabling be too long skirting the boundary?
Probably a waste of time doing, maybe write to the telecaster and ask.

Only issue I see is that most ovals run north south with clubrooms on the west wing, with some grounds using an east west orientation with clubrooms on the northern wing.

Locating the cameras on the opposite wing would have them facing towards the sun and not sure the  vision would be great.

aussiee rules is lucky the camera hides the fact of all 36 players being up one end of the ground. The St Kilda bloke was nine goals down, yet, undaunted, apparently, he played forwardless.

unless they can get the truck over to other side of the grounds it may not happen - or if they can at all because you'd have hundreds of metres of thick cabling around the fence line to the setup point if not

I guess if the WAFC is happy to play a GF at Freo Oval with the disgraceful concrete tiering in full view then optics is not high on their list of priorities.

Just do what the Japanese did for their sporting codes, have thousands of people cutouts glued to the outer terraces, problem solved!!

apart from something that put WA footy into serious debt at the old Perth Tip - Fremantle Oval is still the only natural amphitheatre for football in Perth
And we will be raising 40 million to bolster the old girl into something special - I've always hoped seating could be fitted into the scoreboard flanks and I still hold out hope this will finally eventuate for us all

Southy....now that idiot Pettitt has gone Freo might get back to its glory days without the deroes, drunks, vagrants, boarded up shops, street filth and a revamped Freo Oval could be a thing of beauty...let's hope so as I grew up in Freo and am embarrassed by it these days.
