Thanks.  Have any footy leagues prospered under the AFL and the WAFC?  

Definitely not mate - several have just gone 
We had an excellent Sunday League comp once that produced several absolute stars for our league - it was a powerful comp and the best after the SWFL in Bunbury
Also had a good Sunday Amateur league and the Metropolitan FL with Mosman Park and the like in it too

Wasn't there the SSMFL and the WAFA from memory.

Yes and I think the WAFA was the one I was referring to mate - the old South Suburban Murray ended up being the Current Peel thing didn't it or at least replaced by ???

I think the two comps morphed into the SFL and then the clubs joined the ammos.  

Be interesting if Perth were to clean sweep Cl today, I wonder if the Cl boys will be on here asking for their zones to be fixed?...we all know a week is a long time in footy....

Surely they would get their valet to do that?

Seems like Perth have extra players today in their colts or Cl have less players...Perth up by 20, Cl scoreless, 14 Perth inside 50s 14 to Cl 2....either the WAFC have jumped on the STT "fix the Perth zone" bandwagon over night and actually implemented a few immediate changes or those ex Cl and EF zone recruits have stepped up to the plate

Claremont was going to lodge an official request for an expanded zone with the WAFC on Monday based on the first quarter. 

Our zone seems to have improved in the second quarter though - maybe it took a while for our boys to acclimatise to the non-coastal environment out at Lathlain. 

Very clever, Freeze and TT, to seize on one quarter of football to disprove the argument. TT, if the concern was playing at Lathlain, that might explain the first quarter - if your boys were there, we were playing at Claremont. Anyway, we have kicked 2.4 since quarter time. Our two best players are Quartermaine and Avery, from EF and C respectively.

I don't understand why anyone would think footy is in some way immune from the adverse effects that lower socio-economic status brings. It is well recognised, all across the Western world, that people of lower socio-economic standing have worse outcomes in almost every measure. Health - substance use, obesity, smoking, dentition - crime, education, you name it. Our list has 36 players who have played league footy. Only two - Byrne and Penny - have come from lower-social-economic metro zones. They are both from Thornlie, and Penny is unlikely to add to his single league game. So no-one from Belmont, Maddington, Kenwick, Gosnells. There are, I think, very few local players knocking on the door from the reserves and our colts are clearly in for a long season.
