Maybe Perth should recruit from St Mary's STD.

BC I suspect you are being a little mischievous with that suggestion.

Let me place on record that the electronic scoreboard at Lathlain Park Oval was working for the futures game last Saturday.  I don't know what caused the fault prior to the Colts' match.  Obviously it was not possible to correct the problem on Saturday.  Let me point out this shows the advantage of a manual scoreboard over an electronic one.

With respect to the PSA schools within the Claremont and Perth zones let me make the following point.  Two of the PSA schools in the Perth zone are the Catholic colleges of Trinity and Aquinas.  Those two colleges would draw students from the entire Perth metro area.  Compare and contrast the PSA schools within the Claremont zone that would draw a significantly higher percentage of their students from within the Claremont zone rather than the entire Perth metro area.

Let's look at things from the other angle. Since the big boundary redistribution of 1997

These three clubs have contributed the colts wooden spoon 13 times combined out of 24 years.

EAST PERTH: 1997 (6th)*, 1998 (7th)*, 1999 (Last)*, 2000 (Premiers), 2001 (Last)*, 2002 (8th)*, 2003 (3rd), 2004 (5th)*, 2005 (4th), 2006 (Premiers), 2007 (6th)*, 2008 (3rd), 2009 (Last)*, 2010 (7th)*, 2011 (Last)*, 2012 (6th)*, 2013 (7th)*, 2014 (4th), 2015 (8th)*, 2016 (2nd), 2017 (3rd), 2018 (8th)*, 2019 (4th), 2020 (7th)*

PERTH: 1997 (4th), 1998 (5th)*, 1999 (Premiers), 2000 (3rd), 2001 (2nd), 2002 (Last)*, 2003 (Last)*, 2004 (Last)*, 2005 (5th)*, 2006 (Last)*, 2007 (8th)*, 2008 (2nd), 2009 (3rd), 2010 (5th)*, 2011 (8th)*, 2012 (4th), 2013 (4th), 2014 (7th)*, 2015 (6th)*, 2016 (3rd), 2017 (Last)*, 2018 (Last)*, 2019 (8th)*, 2020 (6th)*

SUBIACO: 1997 (3rd), 1998 (4th), 1999 (6th)*, 2000 (8th)*, 2001 (6th)*, 2002 (7th)*, 2003 (8th)*, 2004 (6th)*, 2005 (Last), 2006 (5th)*, 2007 (4th), 2008 (7th)*, 2009 (7th)*, 2010 (Last)*, 2011 (3rd), 2012 (5th)*, 2013 (3rd), 2014 (6th)*, 2015 (Last)*, 2016 (Last)*, 2017 (7th)*, 2018 (Premiers), 2019 (6th)*, 2020 (Premiers)
LaH it would be interesting to see the breakdown for the other WAFL clubs as well and perhaps what the average finishing position for each club.  One would hope that all clubs have their ups and downs.  I suspect that for some clubs there would be much greater frequency of success compared to other clubs.

Also, what would be interesting to see is an in-depth analysis of the Peel Football Club.  Also, a type of cost-benefit analysis of whether the introduction of Peel was a nett benefit to the WAFL clubs and competition.  My belief is that taking into account that the introduction of Peel did not allow all teams to play each other an equal number of times, the impact to the WAFL clubs' zones and a reduction in each clubs' income did not produce a nett benefit to the WAFL.

Ok, I'll have a look at the numbers and get back.
Thanks LaH.

Wow that is even a better Colts record than I thought Claremont had and I have been banging on about their advantages re zones for some time!
So essentially they have made the finals or at the very least in the handful of seasons they didnt make finals have only just missed out every season for 45 years.

LH I think the Kimberley is broken up into 3 x Football Leagues-
West Kimberley (Broome, Derby, Beagle Bay etc)
Central Kimberley (Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek etc)
East Kimberley (Kununurra, Wyndham, Warmun etc)

It must be factored in that servicing the Kimberley (and also Pilbara & Gascoyne regions) do require a lot of travel, money and time and effort so certainly not having a go at Claremont there as they have done a great job in this tough area to service with some success at both WAFL & AFL level.
But on top of having the best metro zone by a mile, one of if not the best country areas in the Great Southern (Albany, Denmark, Mt Barker etc) plus the Ongerup, Lakes/Ravensthorpe areas as well as the 3 x Kimberley Leagues maybe losing 2 or 3 of those country zones to another WAFL club would be a good start in equalisation?

Couple of things, when this thread started I dreaded what would unfold but it has developed into one of the better discussions we have had on OZ footy, well done to all and especially ......... .

Unless we can get the WAFC to take up the issue it will remain with us for who knows how long,  How do we get it taken up and who does it the clubs, the districts ......
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

ok 9 points for finishing last, 1 point for finishing premiers. Lowest average score wins naturally. 24 years of colts football since the great boundary redistribution of 1997.

1st-Claremont 2.58 (0 Wooden spoons, 6 flags)
2nd-East Fremantle 3.79 (0 Wooden Spoons, 4 flags)
3rd-South Fremantle 4.79 (2 wooden spoons, 4 flags)
4th-Peel 5.37 (1 Wooden Spoon, 2 flags)
5th = Swan Districts 5.58 (4 wooden spoons, 3 flags)
5th = West Perth 5.58 (1 wooden spoon, 0 flags)
7th-East Perth 5.66 (4 Wooden Spoons, 2 flags)
8th-Perth 5.75 (6 wooden spoons, 1 flag)
9th-Subiaco 5.79 (4 Wooden Spoons, 2 flags)

Thanks LaH.  It is hardly a surprise that your numbers confirm what most suspected about Claremont and East Freo followed by South Freo.
