Although i didn't agree with the choice of venue i have to say the playing surface was like a bowling green.

STT the majority of those few accepting playing the WAFL GF at Fremantle Oval yesterday were SF supporters for obvious reasons, the WAFC muppets who were probably trying to save money everywhere other than their over inflated salaries and those who originally accepted this piss weak 8 game season for 2020!
All should hang their heads in shame imho and are not true WAFL people!

Stand the Test wrote: What a forgettable day.

Sffc won the gf at their home ground. Put the asterisk in.

On the radio Martin said it is good to bring the wafl gf to ‘the community’. I have no idea what that means??? Can anyone help?

When it was announced that game at a suburban ground I could not believe it. I still can’t. Now I hear it is going to continue as a ‘good idea’. How is this possible?

Of all the humiliations this comp has been forced to suffer this is the greatest and most public. Anyone celebrating yesterday’s ‘event’ is pissing on the grave of the wafl.

Yesterday was a bad joke.

And made worse by a truly terrible game of footy. Amateur hour (sorry hour and a half) all round.

and your opinion is frankly misguided at best.

The game was very good, it was hard and tough played by two teams who wanted to play their collective hearts out, did Souths get an advantage from it being from being played on their home turf, not that I saw Claremont played the ground really well. It had the excitement befitting a WAFL GF.

Was it at the right venue not really but that is where it was played and the folk that attended seemed to enjoy the day, did it help the city probably and they needed a bit given the reliance on the on hospitality.

Should be there again probably no, it should be at the best venue the state has to offer. The reasons for it not being at optus are frankly down to Venues West and we all know what a bunch of frauds they are, just ask WP!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

I thought the game was brilliant, it had everything plus a war like hero in Mitchell. I'm not a Claremont supporter but he got up after being shot and he played ok thereafter. Was a classic grand final.

I agree it should of been played at the best venue available but Optus Stadium wasn't available due to being charged $100k just to unlock the gates. Don't forget you have other expenses to incur when playing at a venue that isn't part of the fee labelled by VenuesWest, and VenuesWest would probably wanted 50% of the bar takings or something like that.

The WACA would be a nice venue, it's a large venue that can accommodate 20,000 to 25,000 people and is currently a neutral ground.

The atmosphere at Fremantle Oval was way better than a 30,000 packed Optus Stadium. Having 10k odd people crammed in Fremantle Oval produced a better atmosphere than Optus Stadium could ever dream of.

I think it was fine for a one off game and worked due to the fact it was South vs Claremont. Great turn out by the Royals faithful in the early game. The league GF was enjoyable but could only last until half time the concrete terracing was torture.

If you go on performances over the last few years.South's are worthy winners of the 2020 GF.They have been railroaded by Subi the last couple of seasons..
On yesterday's game think the young Claremont players panicked a bit in the last qtr.Fumbling the footy at key moments. They had a lot of opportunities to finish off South's in that last qtr..They did make it hard for themselves not using the breeze properly in the 1st +3rd qtr..South's played there home ground really well yesterday.
Well done to the Royals in the ressies.Turned out to be a reasonable year for EP,almost making the league finals.
Big win for Subi in the Colts..Few of those boys will be league players in 2021.

Hate to break it to the pro Optus crew but the chances of it returning next year are slim with a 30% cut in revenues next year across The board austerity will be in place for quite a while.

Agree mate the surface would be one of
Of the best in the City probably even better than Optus which they say is quite hard.

BC wrote: Yes it wasn't a great look on tv. It'll be interesting to compare yesterday to the SANFL GF in a couple of weeks where they'll have 30k at Adelaide Oval...chalk and cheese for mine and an indictment of the WAFC.

Actually it was far better look
On TV than a sea of Empty Plastic seats which is what recent WAFL GFs have presented , The full banks presented far better than that. And the crowd rushing onto to ground after the siren was mint ,
Classic WAFL from the 70s, thats another thing you can’t do Optus with the Nazi
like security.
