On the plus side, should be a great atmosphere in Freo on Sunday. Thought it was good last week around the markets and pubs. Nice to see Wafl supporters out and about.

Freo oval is a classic in my opinion. Great character. I love the concrete terraces. The trees are magnificent. Huge limestone walls. Prison behind it. An old wooden grandstand that admittedly is in the wrong place.
The new stadium is sterile by comparison. When sport went to plastic seating, its soul took a hit.

I hope Souths can get a decent team on the park. Florenca is a huge loss. C'mon souths, make a game of it.

Bazz I heard they've lifted the crowd limit to 10K? What is it now, 180 days without any community spread of the virus, I think we are safe to have 10k or more in an open air venue .... very open air!!

I was looking to go down and watch, given the colts is the curtain raiser with S v CL but I'll be stuffed if they want me to sit on a bloody concrete terrace. I like watching footy at Freo but only from my folding chair. Will watch it from my lounge chair instead.

Yep agree with all that, Optus was pretty soulless last year, anyway this looks like a one off. Mabe if it works they may look at pumping some development into it and making it the new second tier home of footy in WA, thats if the WACA thing never happens.

It has the best playing surface by far out of the remaining larger grounds.

They will get it to 12,000 max I hope.

Take a cushion instead.

The hospitality packages sold out first day, not surprised at 149 bucks for 3.5 hours of grog and food...great value.

I was under the impression the redevelopment of Fremantle Oval was going ahead.
It was the talk everywhere 18 months to 2 years ago. We all saw the pictures of it and everything. From memory, the oval was going to re-aligned a bit closer to the road?
Or has the plans been shelved? Not sure if the redevelopment plans were going to increase the ground capacity or not?

Mate, it is all up in the air again , Covid funding issues and now the Police have announced they are building a new station on the former Stan Reilly center which carves into what was supposed to be part of the new development. So its up in the air again.

Weather forecast is looking acceptable for Sunday with a goldilocks type of day. Not hot but not cold.
Maximum temperature forecasted to be 19º with partly cloudy conditions.

Yep 20 degs, partly cloudy, bugger all rain,,ideal.

Just make WACA the grand final stadium going forward with East Perth being based there and West Perth sharing Leederville Oval with Subiaco.

The WACA will only hold 10,000 after the latest redevelopment!
WP would be extinct if it moved back to Leederville as it would have to give up one of the best zones in Perth in the rich on talent and players far North/West suburbs...WP were only allocated that zone on the premise of moving up to Joondalup as it was Subiaco's metro zone before that!
