The article said and it has to be in bold.

The WAFL will not be charged to hire the stadium for its grand final.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

So Venues West owes the WAFL 200k for the previous two grand finals? That will be handy split up among 9 clubs.

This was an interesting read.....especially the part that says the WAFL Grand Final will be exempt from an Optus Stadium venue hire fee?
So has that now changed?
And if not so where has this $100-$120k figure suddenly appeared from?

I think the key is in the first para where it mentions "DRAFT CONTRACT" there can be a lot of changes between draft and final versions of contracts. That being said, the fact that the "no charge" clause was in the initial draft begs the question of why it may have disappeared in later versions if that's what happened. QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ASKED!!

The article says: “The WAFL will not be charged to hire the stadium for its grand final.” Perhaps there are other charges besides hiring the stadium? Eg event staff and security

Yep - Its a leaked "Draft" - a lot of water under the bridge, but defo worth knowing exactly what the current one states.

It was always my understanding that the WAFL wasn’t charged a hire fee to use Optus Stadium for the GF but this free usage was tied to West Coast and Freo utilising Optus for their H&A and home finals.
Given that a regular AFL H&A season didn’t occur this year I’d presume that conditions of the contract weren’t met and as a result the clause providing free access for WAFL GF wasn’t triggered?

Depends which way you want to look at this season. I haven’t done the math but I’d say there might have been more games at Optus this year due to the hub, but then crowds were significantly less.

Does not explain last seasons GF and the supposed big loss for holding it at Optus.

Only 16 AFL H&A games got played at Optus this year with average crowds around 25k.

WAFL GF at a suburban ground is worse off.

Xavier Ellis’ opinion really worth less than nothing.

Give us a truly great GF at Optus, not subi v peel or unbeatables v chokers and then we can maybe compare.

Anyone making a case that our GF should be at suburban ground is mad.

If Ellis's opinion is worth nothing, where does that leave yours? No body gives a rats arse what you think.
