I see the WAFL made a 250k profit on the day that’s a 350k turn around on Optus, bloody smart move in tough times, that 250k Shared among the clubs will be a real bonus in the current climate.

Looking like a big push to redevelops Freo now realign the oval , Build a new members stand get the Dockers Women’s team there and Upgraded capacity to 20k to AFL standards.

Could work well.

Source please? 250 K shared equally among the clubs would be a real bonus - slightly skeptical this will ever happen though - and certainly would help to offset the hundreds of thousands of dollars the WAFC has cut from funding to the WAFL clubs.

The GF Gate is always shared with the clubs always has been - wtf are you on about?

Last year the clubs got nothing as it was a loss.

Your Source for the statement that the GF made a 250K Profit? Hopefully it is shared equally but i am skeptical that the nice round sum of 250K profit from the GF will be shared equally among the clubs.

It wasn't exactly 250k but close to it. Figure was announced Tuesday in the West.

Not hard to work out at a concession members rate 9500 tickets was $190,000 at full price it was $237,000, so would of been around the 200K plus mark just from the Gate, then there was the hospitality packages that sold out and catering another 20 or 30 easy there, so getting up to 250k without much trouble..nothing to pay venues west all cash in the hand.

So another 9500 people at Optus paying $25 would have created a bigger profit even allowing for the $100,000 fee.
It beggars belief it wasn't held there.

Agree TRSM this Gf would have easily achieved 20k at Optus probably more given the great weather and two equally matched teams, so as you said not difference in the profit but 1000% better conditions for the punters and the players get to play at the best venue in Australia on neutral ground.

The fact that our current tarnished and compromised WAFC have hurredly announced that future GF's will be sold to the highest bidder is an absolute scandal. The new commission should review this shameful decision as its first order of business.

Even your own victorious coach the day after the GF said he and the players would have preferred the game was at the Stadium where a much larger crowd could have attended.
The majority on here concur as do the majority of WAFL supporters only the deluded odd Bulldog supporter wants the gala day of WA footy to be played on a suburban ground.

Just out of curiosity who’s paying for these massive upgrades??

Yeah the Coach said that but the players said otherwise, they preferred it at Freo.

If you look at Social media the General view was that day went well and most preferred it to Optus, and that was the view around the ground on the day. the media was pretty positive as well.

Ozfooty is a tiny sample portion. Have a look at the Claremont thread, three grades in the GF and hardly a word. Wouldn't use it as a indicator.

Lol what a few SF posters on social media that is all...no one else!

thewest.com.au/news/wa/revealed-winners-...m-deal-ng-b88500757z

This was an interesting read.....especially the part that says the WAFL Grand Final will be exempt from an Optus Stadium venue hire fee?
So has that now changed?
And if not so where has this $100-$120k figure suddenly appeared from?

WOW!! This demands an answer from Emperor McGowan's government. I wouldn't waste my time confronting the morally bankrupt and incompetent WAFC on this issue. They obviously didn't raise this with Venues West.

Brilliant work BH digging this one up. You have embarrassed a lot of people in powerful positions including The West WAFL journo's and the opposition who would have been the ones who drafted those rules.

Not to mention Gary Adshead and Gareth Parker who co-wrote that article. Optus should also be writing to the state government for a Please Explain why the states premier football competitions GF was not played at the stadium Optus is paying is it 50 million over 10 years for naming rights?

An opportunity denied to them for a whole week or more of exposure to get a return on their money.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

Interesting. What changed?

Xavier Ellis in the west today, attached, makes a good case though.

Duffield on his podcast was pushing for am upgraded Waca as a finals venue.

Sorry JL, but a blow in from VIC who has been here in WA all of 5 minutes and has no idea about the past history of WAFL footy has no real say in it for mine tbh!

Does this mean the WAFC & WAFL are full of idiotic dickheads. Couldn't see the AFL overlooking something like this.
