Surely these highly paid Government workers at the WAFC can organise a better deal at Perth Stadium you know the one they own and built?!?!

Yeah agree, Joondy doesn't cut it for me. lack of atmosphere is a big issue, catering is a rip off - if you can find any, location is dead as you say, as bad as EF Oval nothing around to make a day of it.

Baz,

What a pile of horse shit, every WAFL ground lacks atmosphere until you get 15-20 punters rock up. There is a massive shopping centre directly across the road (please be careful crossing the road, use the normal pedestrian laws) with coffee shops, all the major fast food outlets and many many more retail outlets.

the only reason its being considered is its a govt run venue, no need to talk it as a great venue.
it should be at Leederville or Freo oval - Leederville is closest to the city and Freo has places to eat and drink beforehand or after.

Apparently theres a bit of a problem with the surface at Leederville, a bit cut up. If we continue to have wet weather into September it could turn into a quagmire.

It is quite worn in places so unless the council repairs and that ain't likely it will be a bit like the old Lotons park with the pitches!

joondalup is even worse in really bad weather and certain wind conditions; the problem we have is that, the commission will turn around and point out that the AFL plays scratch matches there and that will be the end of the argument.

Longer term, i think they should play all finals at the WACA, or, alternatively, at clubs which are not partaking in the finals.

Beas,

Regarding under cover square meterage, there would be a spoofteenth in it between most grounds and they all have there Pro's & Con's.

Freo Oval - The grand stand is a kilometre away from the playing field, the cover behind the goals is great but you are likely to get piles on a cold day, toilet facilities are good, capacity no problems.

Basso - Ripper ground with good cover, the main entrance grassed area walking up the hill is a quagmire in winter and that would get munted with $15k+ turning up, toilets are also an issue at Basso but could be contender for sure.

Joondalup - Facilities are good regardless what anyone says, particularly since the new build, covered seating in the main stand, Tom James shed and viewing area at the club house, has a few options, grassed banks best in the WAFL. Distance is an issue, there is a train station 5min from the ground contrary to what the nay sayers think.

Lathlain- capacity no good.

EF Oval - Wont waste my time on Condemned Park.

CL - Capacity 4-5K, won't cut it.

Peel - Wont get capacity. Distance.

Leederville - Definitely could host a GF although capacity may be an issue.

Bassendean shouldn't and won't get any major games until they fix up the away changerooms. It was an embarrassment when we played the state game there. It's not hard to put in a whiteboard is it? And how long till they fix the taps and the showers that don't work?

if it did boil down to capacity , facilities & transport then there's only three grounds in it
Leederville , Fremantle & Joondalup
bear in mind there will still be social distance laws in place so the capacity issue is diluted

Im not talking it up, Im calling it what it is, its a bloody good WAFL ground with its down and up sides. For example If you took 100 non WAFL people to Joondalup, Basso, Freo Oval and Leederville and asked them if they were to spend an afternoon watching a game which ground would they prefer, I guarantee you The Arena would get 80% of the votes.

How would 15k get there Leedy given there's not anywhere near enough parking and the train station is 1km away?

If you organised parking for all those people and they didn’t have to buy food or drink from rip off venues west then you might have some support.
Leederville and Freo miles ahead for location and you can actually go in a bar and have a drink and a burger for an ok price
