Exactly BC Joondy will probably accomodate the highest capacity due to the large grass banks. Their grandstand is pissy be lucky to seat 300. So rain hail or shine these wankers expect us to sit our ass down or stand on the grass banks in the pouring rain?

I'd say max capacity at Joondy would be 15000 which would mean at least 5000 are denied.

Neither of those or any WAFL club ground. It's a total FUCK YOU ?? from the WAFC that we are sub class citizens who don't deserve the very best facility for football spectators and change room facilities for players and umpires.

It is an absolute disgrace. They said it will cost the WAFL $100k to play it at Optus. Big FARRRKEN deal. That's a drop in the ocean, to be exact LESS THAN 1% of the annual 11 million dollar football budget. We need to protest loudly about this guys.

Absolutely spot DD. $100k loss to play it at Optus is nothing to the WAFC given the money they get. If it costs that to showcase the premier state league footy competition then so be it. I can't believe they're even considering playing it anywhere else. Incompetent arseholes.

Why does it have to be a financial loss at Optus? They don't have to open every tier, every bar, every toilet, every food outlet, and every entrance do they? 25 thousand people at roughly thirty bucks each is 750 grand.
If it has to be a suburban ground make it Leederville, one club can have subis grandstand, the other can have east perths. No way Joondalup.

Agree with you Tiger re Leederville, they have the ideal set-up for visiting supporters. There are basically 3 grandstands there, lots of toilets, the old fashioned Perth council style grandstands which has by far the largest capacity, close to the train station and loads of bars and restaurants for pre and post game beverages and cuisine around Leederville.

The government has a vested interest in Joondy as it's managed by government agency Venues West. Thinking of themselves again? Surely not?

But I disagree with you about not fully utilising all tiers at Optus. The atmosphere at Optus at AFL matches with the crowd evenly spread out using every second row creates a great look and atmosphere even with only 20 - 25,000 there.

They could probably close a few of the food and beverage shops, we could live with that but that's being picky.

Well, the only reason it would be at Joondalup is because VenuesWest owns both Optus Stadium and Joondalup.

VenuesWest would be bloody pissed off if they took the grand final to Fremantle Oval or Leederville Oval.

Future Grand Finals should be at the WACA, unless a team like West Perth, South Fremantle, Subiaco, East Perth made the grand final, then it should be at their home ground.

You can't use the WACA it is only 150m long.

OK scrap WACA and replace with the extremely expensive Optus Stadium. It's expensive because VenuesWest charge a bomb for usage, just ask West Perth and their relationship with VenuesWest at Joondalup. It's another very expensive piece of turf to rent.

Yeh, good idea, I see where they’re coming from. They’re trying to attract the people from Geraldton. FFS, how many people won’t be bothered? Common sense says keep it central...surely?
