There is nothing wrong with the ground itself, there are other issues with things areas being off limits to everyone other than WP supporters something that most other clubs don't have (Perth ???/), the facilities are not all that great in terms of food and the associated prices and the buggy for me is who gets the revenue, VW and JCC and THAT would be a travesty!

Travel is pretty easy as long as you get there early and the tenants (JCC and VW with a little help from WP) have not been allowed to limit parking or train if you can walk a fair walk, Freo have buses, and Leederville is a short walk.

There are issues but it ain't abt WP it is the management of the venue!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

It's an odd season all round so I guess anything could happen between now and then. For mine, I think we saw a preview to the GF last weekend with Souths taking on the Tiges but who knows.

You blokes are kidding yourselves, AJ is in the top 3 grounds in the Comp by a country mile. Player facilities are one of the best now (even for the opposition) since the new club rooms were built and capacity is over 18k, added toilets can be placed in the sections behind the trees at Southern end and near scoreboard so not to take away seating from grassed area. If $ubi make it again then there will be no concerns about bursting at the seams as 10-12k is not a problem.

If Perth Stadium too expensive how about the WACA? That holds 20 thousand doesn't it. I would also prefer Leederville (would like some money spent on the grass one day) or Fremantle oval where I have won a C grade premiership in Amateurs too - just saying

TFAF,

Fark orf you wouldn't go :) :) :)

BC wrote: According to The Worst this years GF could very likely be played at Arena Jerkalup to save money and so it doesn't clash with a potential AFL final at Optus if that happens. The ground holds 15k apparently so not sure how that will work as we've had more than that in the last 2 years since moving to Optus plus the place is a shit hole. JT reckons the WAFC will make $100k profit which will be shared by all clubs and I'm sure VW will take all the bar profits. With the WAFC, VW and Joondy Jerkers running the show what could possibly go wrong?

I've no problem with making a wise decision financially, last year the comp lost 120K playing it at Optus. But Joondalup? really what a stupid location and venue.

Fremantle or Leederville would be the obvious choices, I can assure you now that the cat is out of the bag with Optus ruled out SFFC will be pushing hard for a Fremantle GF.

Unfortunately the playing surface at the WACA is now to small to play footy. That wass a huge mistake the WACA made at the last redesign. Its a real pity because now we dont have a 2nd venue of decent size - which we had fro about 50 years with the WACA and Subi - The redevelopment of the WACA cant come quick enough

why is everyone surprised ?
govt and WAFC are broke so they send the game to a govt. run venue, obvious move from the powerbrokers

If you were doing a list of the current WA football grounds from best (Perth Stadium) to worst with all amenities taken into consideration (especially cover from rain or sun) including the surrounding precinct to go before and after for a meal and drink then Arena Joondalup would be maybe just ahead of EF & Dog Poo Park!

Surely these highly paid Government workers at the WAFC can organise a better deal at Perth Stadium you know the one they own and built?!?!

Beas,

Regarding under cover square meterage, there would be a spoofteenth in it between most grounds and they all have there Pro's & Con's.

Freo Oval - The grand stand is a kilometre away from the playing field, the cover behind the goals is great but you are likely to get piles on a cold day, toilet facilities are good, capacity no problems.

Basso - Ripper ground with good cover, the main entrance grassed area walking up the hill is a quagmire in winter and that would get munted with $15k+ turning up, toilets are also an issue at Basso but could be contender for sure.

Joondalup - Facilities are good regardless what anyone says, particularly since the new build, covered seating in the main stand, Tom James shed and viewing area at the club house, has a few options, grassed banks best in the WAFL. Distance is an issue, there is a train station 5min from the ground contrary to what the nay sayers think.

Lathlain- capacity no good.

EF Oval - Wont waste my time on Condemned Park.

CL - Capacity 4-5K, won't cut it.

Peel - Wont get capacity. Distance.

Leederville - Definitely could host a GF although capacity may be an issue.

Yeah agree, Joondy doesn't cut it for me. lack of atmosphere is a big issue, catering is a rip off - if you can find any, location is dead as you say, as bad as EF Oval nothing around to make a day of it.

Another thing is, unless Mc Gowans lifts the final stage restrictions - we cannot have more than 50% cpacity and thats going to be a real downer, as for most grounds that will be well under 10K. Freo being 12 / half 6
