In a few years, I think they will struggle to make finals in B grade this year, but I have a fair interest in what they have been doing the last few years and they do it better than the majority of clubs. Can only lead to bigger and better things. Pretty sure no other club in C grade had 2 colts teams and I doubt most B grade clubs have 2 colts sides.

The common denominator in endured stints in A grade is 2 colts teams. Thats why the teams that pay will always struggle, Maddington, Kelmscott etc. Sure you might get up, but the money runs out. Depth is the key.

Kelmscott was a big exception last year (cos we all know how deep uncle lens pockets are) i think kingsway will feel the step up to B grade this year a good season would be to stay in b grade and consolidate theres a few factors between grades other than just playing talent these include fitness , the coaching level rises so structures game plans and footy knowledge increase and the reserve comp improves in b grade and a huge improvement in a grade so i believe u need to improve your club as a whole in these areas each grade u go up NOT just recruiting player talent the one thing kingsway do have is player depth so certainly a good start
Certainly gota like all the great talk about B grade with news on nearly all 10 clubs and the passion everyone shows that their club will succeed this year unfortunately there will be a top 5 and a bottom 5 and 2 teams wont be good enough to stay up
So keep up the updates people and the great chatter

The stats don't back the statement that clubs that come from C1 struggle. In fact most teams that have won C 1 over the last 5/6 years have done pretty well in B Grade. Maddo 2009 C Grade premiers then 2010 were B Grade runners up. 2010 Kalamunda won C Grade played finals for 2 years then won the B Grade flag in 2013. 2011 Scarbs won C Grade and have finished top 3 in the last 3 seasons. Bullcreck won C Grade in 2012 finished third in B Grade in 2013. Kelmscott C Grade premiers 2013 B Grade premiers in 2014. Going on those stats Kingsway should finish around top 3.

It would not surprise me in the least to see Kingsway in the gf this year. Very good, strong club with a shitload of depth.
I feel they might start slow whilst they get used to B grade but they will come home with a wet sail.

I can confirm with King Pig that the numbers on the track down at collegians look strong. I think that the boys from the Western Suburbs will give the competition a good crack this year with a host of past players making there way back down to the shank. Last year was extremely difficult with upwards of 40 players making their way through the league side given the amount of injuries, which should give the boys confidence that they can match it with the top sides as long as they can stay healthy.
Wembley will be feeling dirty on their performance last year given the amount of ex WAFL players they had running around the Park and will be filthy they missed out on a Flag, in saying that though Kelmscott did buy their entire team and will continue to do so until they get caught again and relegated.
Top 4 for me

Wembley
Colls
Scarb
Swan Ath

Leggo33 wrote: I have been away for a bit but am led to believe that Kingsway will pretty much have the same side as last year but have added a couple of good mids, a quality Ruckman and another quality forward & Back (From Subi i believe) which can only improve them.

I'm pretty sure Kingsway would be pretty happy this season to Consolidate there position in B Grade with a view to hopefuuly gettiong to A Grade within the next 2 - 3 years as opposed to being 1 season wonders and going back to C Crade.

In Kingsway's favour is that they are a relatively young side that is made up of quite a few guys who have played at WAFL level at Colts & ressies level so they can obviously play a bit. They also have very good depth with a Ressies side that won the GF last year and played finals the year before

Also there Colts have played in the last 2 grand finals (losing 1 by a point and winning another by 8 goals) so there depth is very strong. They also have strong ties with The Kingsway JFC so the steady supply of younger players will continue to flow through. It is interesting to note that a lot of the guys currently playing League at Kingsway played in A colts premiership back in 2010.

Having said that, apart from Stirling the competition in last years C1 comp wasnt overly strong so it will certainly be a big step up to B Grade for Kingsway however it is a challenge that im sure they will be up for.

Looking forward to seeing a few games when i can this year in what is shaping up as a very good B Grade Competition

Added a couple of past players. Who's this forward/back swing man you talk of?

Hey Great. I think Leggo means a forward and a backman, 2 players. Has anyone heard any rumours from the league regarding a salary cap in the next year or 2?

I think there is a better chance of a points system coming in.

It should be noted that after surveying 66 club presidents, 76% of respondents either strongly disagree or disagree with the statement, "The WAAFL's Competition integrity committee was effective in monitoring and stopping the payment of players".
