Fantastic win although I was completely bamboozled by the Vics approach today. They really played into our hands with their blockathon. Even when you are playing for a draw it is important to have some intent to score in order to put some pressure back on the bowlers. When you are in the mindset someone like Sutherland was today scoring 6 off 75 balls, then the bowlers will often get away with loose balls that a more attacking approach would punish. Corey Rocchiccioli is a very promising bowler but 26 overs 20 maidens, 3 for 14 ?  I'm sure he would have bowled a few that would have been hit to the boundary on other days.
Well done to WA and they are certainly the team to beat again this year. Cam Bancrofts catch at short leg  was probably the highlight of an otherwise slow day of cricket

gave away nearly 2 bonus points with the slow run rate
that could come back to haunt the side later in the season
and scoring that slowly isn't going to get crowds through the gates when the long format needs attractive cricket badly

Won with 30 overs to spare.....but yeah agree, looks like WA and Voges will kill shield cricket for the casual viewer, if they play cricket like that throughout the season.

Assume that was a tongue in cheek comment Freezin?  I thought Voges and the WA team played the perfect game to grind the Vics into the dust

Like you mikeh I am a cricket traditionalist and have no probs with a slow run rate, as long as there is a purpose and an  end reward. Pretty obvious Voges / WA strategy....worked like a treat....

Unfortunately the cricket casual can't see that and its all about the run rate in their eyes.....interesting to see young SA batsman Fraser-McGurk scored 120 odd off 30 odd deliveries....and his side still lost....definitely entertaining to watch, but sadly was all in vain with SA losing.

some more poor batting by the Victorians in the one day cup - our fast bowlers coming back in have run right through them
should be a big win coming up soon

and Queensland have made a wonderful recovery against NSW - at 9 for 146 the last wicket pair have put on 73 in 10.3 overs to take the win
good aggressive intent and took the bowlers on

Just scary for the other states really. Took them just under half a game to completely obliterate the Vics. Great to see Jhye Richardson back and also Morris, Tye and Berendorff bowling good spells. This after Gannon, Stobo, Haskett and Roccocholi destroyed them in the shield game. Of course WA are still missing Green, Marsh Inglis and Stoinis, who are at the ODI world cup as well as Kelly, Paris, Cartwright and Agar who are injured, have I forgotten someone?
The Vics will be glad to get on the plane and see the back of Perth.
Complacency is the main enemy of the Warriors this season.
