Outstanding performance by WA. When you consider they were missing 8 first choice player through either injury or IPL as well as having guys like Agar, Haskett and Wyllie on the sidelines and Fanning, Phillipe and Tye playing in the first grade final today, the depth of this squad is staggering.
I am particularly happy for Gannon Connelly and Stobo who would have missed out on selection had there not been so many absentees but they all played their part in a team effort.
Also D'arcy Short stepped in and played his role even though he had big boots to fill. Roccocholi would have to be in the frame for national selection. Cartwright came good just like he did in the one day final. A wonderful team effort where every player contributed. The Tassies tried hard but were completely outclassed
Surely Adam Voges would be front runner for the next Aussie coach when McDonalds time is up?

Well said Mike. Concur with everything you said. No reason to think they won’t be a serious contender again next season given the incredible depth and quality of WA cricket.

I too was really pleased for “Sam” Gannon and Charlie Stobo. Gannon bowled superbly the last few games after coming off the bench. What a summer of cricket. Can’t wait until it starts again.

Incredible performance from WA to wrap up our 3rd straight Shield title (to go with 3 straight Marsh Cup one day titles) and 18th all up after only entering the SS competition in 1947/48.
I thought we were not even a chance to play in the Final a few games back but not only get there, somehow get a home final and complete the win I take my hat off to all involved at the WACA.
Was great to see a number of the WA side that missed out on playing in the previous 2 title wins get their just rewards in this game including Inglis, Stobo, Connolly (what a debut), Goodwin, Short & Gannon who is bowling as good as anyone around at the moment, TAS had no answers to his line and length.
To think the likes of Marsh & Green (IPL), Richardson, Morris, Bancroft, Kelly, Behrendorff & Turner (All out injured) & Wyllie, Agar, Haskett, Phillipe, Fanning, McKenzie, Stoinis, Hobson, Jackson, Curtis, Critchell etc cant get a look in shows how strong we currently are and with a few AUS u/19s reps in Beardman & Wasley coming through as well hopefully we continue the dominance!
TAS were at full strength today and even had Wade come back from the IPL to play the Final but were completely outclassed by WA's depth of talent!

Was a bit worried on day 1 .When Whiteman was dismissed.Thought we could be rolled for under 300.
But theirs just to much depth in the Warriers side.In all the facets of the game.

Interesting quote from Joel Paris when he said that this shield victory meant more than the 2 others because of the difficulties the team had to overcome during the season with injuries which severely tested the depth of the squad.
It would be fair to say that most supporters, including myself ,were thinking that the team was falling away at the end of January when they suffered defeats in both Shield and Marsh Cup games to NSW at the WACA. These losses put WA at risk of missing both the one day and Shield finals at that stage.

The fact that the team had the character to regroup and then play some great cricket to once again claim both titles is a testament to the culture that Voges and the other coaching staff have created in the group.

They beat NSW in Sydney to claim the one day title and thrashed the Vics on their home patch to claim a shield final at the WACA. Outstanding stuff and I agree this squad will rank with some of the great WA teams when the history is written. No reason why they can't go again next year.

So Philippe has departed to NSW, disappointing to see him go, but in all honesty bit hit n miss in the red ball format. Hopefully for Aust cricket the kid finds his mojo, definitely talented.

Also WA has signed ex Victorian quick Brody Crouch. Apparently left because he was in a long queue of Vic quicks.....not sure that queue is going to be any shorter over here in WA.....but is young and one can never tell with the injury woes of Richardson and Kelly, plus who knows if Gannon can replicate his 2023/24 Shield exploits.....
