Apparently Darren Harris is in the frame if they decide not to reappoint Barnard.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

Well if they go that way, the little garden gnome will find out very quickly that there aren't too many Boltons,Watermans,or Rogers, on our list and i'd rather be spending next years $125 membership money on a slow horse than a slow football club.

It doesn’t appear to be looking good for Barnard. If they didn’t reappoint after that little purple patch mid year then if it falls away now he’s under huge pressure. A loss today could be the final straw.

Seems a little harsh unless I’m missing something.

At the risk of being pilloried and told I am a failure once again if Barnard was is to be reappointed then the club has once again let itself down with the delay, unfair to him in a big way, family livelihood etc, it is unfair to the members and for me more importantly unfair to the players.

It is my opinion that there a number of players considering their future on the decision. If he is reappointed then i suspect the club will have a huge recruiting issue on its hands to replace the players whether they are c graders,B or even the one or two A graders that are likely to walk or seek to go elsewhere. It is ok to say let them go but you have to ask why not just bag them, there is a reason or reasons why players pull the pin and it can be the regime under which they play. Also ask yourselves this, who in our league squad of 28 has actually improved under his tutelage to an acceptable level I would suggest yep there has been some but not nearly enough!

There a few coaches out there who may be looking for a job, Harris - a proven coach with players seemingly wanting to play for him, - Shepard - not one I would contemplate is ok with a squad full of AFL players but look at the desertion rate and the reserves performance of the years -  Troy Selwood - an unknown but a lot of experience in the WCE system and he has been a couple of games so maybe a dark horse if Barnard is let go.

The club has to make a decision and sooner is is the required timeline.

Didn't know that about the players wanting to walk- and thats usually a death knell. I guess the performances don't reflect that but Robertson has been poor in recent times- is he potentially a disgruntled one?

From that Grump, he's probably done

KCEF, it is an opinion after watching and listening to players (and other supporters who know more than I do abt such things). If the talk is ......... then surely the board is aware and needs to be doing something.

Lost the players in the first month of his three years, so I would be shocked if it ends well for the club legend.   My experience players can either play or not. Self motivated or not. Commited or not.  A new coach won’t give some of these guys ability with a magic wand.

and motivation is the or is one of the keys, in my experience self motivation is often only one part of the process, being motivated from outside is a big part of the coaching/managing process.

Yes I can accept that for sure Grump, coaches should have that lever.  I think that can be player driven too if the leadership group is that way inclined. Playing senior football should be a strong driver to prepare and compete hard.  I’m from the school that encouragement will
get the best from people not negative feedback.

everyone has a view about barney.some say he is fair some too hard.the question is will we be a better team next year if he is reappointed.our recruiting  could have been better after the alignment but the worrying thing for me is that 65 players have left the club since he has been there.i lagree with  grump and think it will continue and you can't just build a team thru recruitment you need a reasonably stable squad and depth which we don't have.i was told several players did the pre season but pulled the pin before the season started.you hear the standard not playing due to work commitments.is this just a code word for i don't like the coach.we can only wait and see what the board decide..if barney gets reappointed will we have a mass exodus and can we actually attract any decent recruits.if it is someone else will ex players come back and any decent recruits actually can be attracted.time will tell.
