Jeremy Barnard in 2019, took on a club playing list that had a weekly 14 to 15 player exodus from the previous season, yet today with virtually no recruiting in 2021,has managed to complete a clean sweep of defeating all nine WAFL teams in a very short space of time, and the East Perth board [if they have half a brain]need to confirm a contract extension as soon as possible.

Agreed, royallucky, it would be great to see Barney reappointed after the boys' spirited victory today.
The heavy conditions and gusty wind favouring the tech school end forced us to play a more direct style of footy.
Thankfully, there was less of our usual chipping the ball around and coughing up possession.
After having the breeze and being outscored in the first quarter, I thought we'd really be up against it in the second.
However, the lads kept the ball on the dead flank for much of the quarter then used the breeze well in the third.
As happens in most East Perth games, there were plenty of anxious moments in the final term but we did enough to hang on.

Thanks, Ark, one needs a strong heart to follow the Royals in 2021, with six games decided by less than 10 points.

i don't have a axe to grind with barney but if they wanted to reappoint him i would have thought it would have happened already.i have heard different opinions about him from being very fait to being a hard taskmaster.the fact that several of our premiership ressies players who have played league did not return this year seems to point to this conclusion.also maybe why we had trouble recruiting  players this year.i fear he has lost the goodwill of those who matter .the decision makers..

Anybody that doesn't understand the enormity of the task confronting Barney when he took over, has got a very very low football I.Q.The players that have left or been culled were mediocre league talents, and results like today showed,[as i have said on numerous occasions] that we are heading in the right direction. It was patently obvious to me with our dearth of recruiting that we could ill afford to lose players of the quality of Ramsay,Schumacher and Robertson who indeed were unavailable for long periods of the season, and the results speak for themselves since they've returned.

i think he has done well with the cards he has been dealt.but as i understand that the goal was that after three years we would be playing finals and that seems to be unlikely.i have to disgree about some of the players who left..would we be a better squad  with gorter, hooper, hart, rudrum.i suspect yes.we have been left short in the backline and forward line.

I'm sure the goal of playing finals was realistic if the club had adequately recruited last summer, chaddy.
However, we missed out on a few recruiting targets (the club has admitted this), so that would've meant slightly revised (lowered) expectations.
As such, and given our earlier bad run with injuries, I believe Barney deserves to be reappointed.
When (if) that will happen is anybody's guess.

The 3rd year was suppose to culminate into a selective recruiting drive addressing our list deficiencies where the recruiting department unfortunately, has failed miserably, and blaming Barney because he is a hard taskmaster is absolute crap as far i'm concerned, because all a potential recruit in Victoria or SA or anywhere else in a Aust. is concerned about is how much they/re going to get get paid,. or if the club can help provide them employment, and the players mentioned above don't look like premiership material to me,and although i liked Rudrum, there is no way i could place him above Jacob Msando.
