Turnbull got the flick and so did the ETS from the Lib Platform.

Bazza are you trying to say that the Liberals did not vote against the ETS legislation in the Senate after the 2007 election?

Swan I know you Stalinist Leftists like to rewrite history to suit yourself but it doesnt always work.

Prior to the 2007 defeat Howard had prmoised an ETS by 2012, Rudd who had replaced Beasely promised it by 2010.

Negoatiations with opposition and greens , timing and pricing began to break down, by 2009 the Greens had withdrawn support for it, on 1/12/2009, dissatifaction with Turnbull lead to Abbott taking the leadership, immediatley a secret ballot was held on the issue in the Liberal National Party room, the ETS labor was proposing was overwhelmingly rejected, as a result the LNP annouced they would be not be supporting the bill.

On 2/12/2009 both the Greens and the LNP voted down the bill, the ALP only required the Greens to support it but failed.

Rudd annnouced he would defer the whole deal until 2012 ( oddly Howards original plan ).

Given that so much water leaders and policies had passed under the bridge and the fact that even the Greens had failed to support it, I really cant see how you can hold the libs to what a long gone and defeated leader had done way back in 2007.

So which part of your diatribe refutes the statement that the Liberals voted against the ETS legislation in the Senate after the 2007 election despite going to the 2007 election supporting an ETS?

Also, if you are suggesting that a Government does not break promises if its leader is changed; Abbott is most assuredly on very borrowed time.

The facts are: the Liberals failed to support the mandate of the victorious ALP Government afforded to them after their 2007 election victory and the Liberals reneged on the election commitment of an ETS when they voted against the ETS legislation in the Senate after the 2007 election.

It was no longer party policy. Even the greens walked away from it , Krudd had made such an almighty mess of the policy it was voted down.

Tony Abbott is an absolute joke of a PM and it is embarrassing to say the least that he is representing our great country as PM. I don't know how any reasonable working man or woman with half a brain could possibly have voted for this imbecile??? He struggles to articulate and regularly butchers fluent speech. Anyone who voted for this fuckwit should be absolutely ashamed to call themselves an Australian as he does not in any way uphold Australian working man values. He has ZERO respect for woman and is a Catholic loonie. Wake up Australia and vote this Kunt out ASAP!!!!!!!!! And while your at it get rid of the Emporer Barnett too as he has sunk this state in irreversible Dept with his stupid monuments!!!!

It will be interesting to see how Abbott will try to reconcile his anti-climate change rhetoric with the latest papal encyclical. Hockey perhaps can help him; alternatively, he might like to speak to Turnbull.

Mind you this is the same Abbott who HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR THE LAWS OF THE LAND AND THE COURTS. Perhaps he can give Pope Francis a knighthood to deflect from his (Abbott's) lack of any moral fibre when it comes to climate change or better still move to America and join the right wing nuts known as the Tea Party; he would get on well with ,most of them.

no need 42...we're well on the way to passing our emissions target without even really trying due to increased electricity prices etc.

BC Surely that can't be right. Didn't Abbott say that electricity prices would be LOWER without the Carbon Tax? Not ANOTHER LIE/BROKEN PROMISE from Abbptt?
