This whole referendum handled badly from start to finish from what my perspective. I get the feeling the current pm was sucked in somewhat? That is part of the problem with these supposedly highly educated and well paid politicians - they know stuff all. The current pm happy for all the photo opportunities, tax payer funded traveling here, there, and everywhere whilst 'talking with everyone'. And yet couldn't really explain anything about how this voice thingy would work! One thing I disliked was the big rush and heavy handed tactics the current government employed.

Mate the biggest trainwreck in Australia is the Liberal Party itself
only have to look as far as Michaelia Cash and Nick Goiran to feel very uncomfortable
federally you've got a flip flop leader who can't decide what he will do and has a large fault in the Western Sydney immigrant disaster , no-one can walk there without fear of getting shot
it's alright having continual shots at Labour but I'm afraid Liberal are just deplorable

Clearly you are having a bit of trouble taking hold of the idea of Albo and Labor taking responsibility for this train wreck :)

I guess he did do us some favours, he showed with the resounding repudiation of this concept that the over reach of the one way ear bashed "reconciliation" process has pretty much pissed of most of the country, three flags behind politicians and on buildings  and renaming of places, welcome to country to go to the dunny, sports leagues political stunts , it's time to give it all a rest and walk as one nation again.
Bit Sleazy has lost all credibility. He will be pushing shit up hill to survive after the new polls come out. Fed Labor members will be shitting themselves at the prospect of another 2 or 3 terms in opposition and I reckon are circling the wagons already.

Who could they put in his place that could rescue this trainwreck? Richard Marles was in it up to his ears in the Yes camp. Claire O'Neil has been trying to plug the holes in the immigration system and Penny Wong has been doing in my opinion a pretty good job as foreign affairs minister. In particular in relation to China, a very difficult job. The fact she is Asian probably has helped. Probably our most successful for a while. Plibersek forget her.

Spot on..how much did this goose burn up in fossil fuel jetting coast to coast to try and sell this dud? One day he was in Alice Perth and then Adelaide all in the space of hours, it must of cost a mint...

They pumped a huge amount of resources into Yes in SA, ended up the second lowest State in the nation...abject failure.

Couldnt even get up in the lefty loonville Victoria...the rest is history.

This hasnt even been close - its been a massive repudiation despite out spending 10/1 on adds - how did johnnie Farnham work out ???, Dutton is righ to junk the idea of another one, the result has been so resounding - there is no public mood for it.

The Northern Territory folk are probably a bit more intelligent than Albo gave them credit for. 38.25% Yes 61.75% No. Has to be the highest population of Aboriginal people by percentage by quite a margin I assume. Especially the full blooded first nations people.

Far too much real life lived experience dealing with the issues in places like NT WA QLD and SA mate, but don't worry the all white city of boredom known as Canberra know best...

Even though I'm not a big fan, I think credit to Dutton for reading the tea leaves and respecting what the vast majority of voters have said, that the public dont want the Voice (but do want the simple and highly symbolic proposal for recognition) that the Voice was a debacle, run by a bunch of woke lefty loony's who had way too much influence over the Feds and the Feds were too weak to even challenge anything they proposed, preferring to use the "just trust me" idea. Dutton has at least listened to the voters and realised the last thing they want or need is another referendum, something Elbows was totally unable to grasp even after respected commentators and advisors told him it should be trashed weeks ago.

And the ABC continued to show it's true colours, which these days seem to be only black red and yellow with no red white and blue to be seen. The interview of Warren Mundine by Patricia Karvelas after the result was one of the nastiest, most disrespectful vitriolic interviews I have ever seen, this so called reporter sneered at him the entire time, told him virtually he was a traitor to the cause and thats only the half of it. Like so many from the tax payer funded ABC and SBS she has stepped over the line and is commentating, not reporting, so unprofessional. The ABC has completely lost it's way as an independent commentator of current affairs, we should all demand so much more from the tax payer funded nation broadcaster. Despite the massive Yes wash done by the ABC and SBS and the $100++mill promotional budget and huge support from big business it proved that no matter how much money you throw at a clearly flawed idea, the public will see through it.

Yep was thinking that after I posted most real indigenous people in the NT and other remote parts of Australia probably have better relations with and trust the white folk than their own lining their pockets and actually doing fuck all.

Wait for Dwert to come out and tell us how crazy and uneducated we all are. The country has spoken and a fair chunk of them are indigenous people who voted against it.

The lines about anyone who votes no is a racist or stupid, gets blown out the water by the numbers, 8.3 Million voters voted No, to say all of them fit into those categories is an insult to anyones intelligence.

the good thing here is that it appears that the WA Liberal Party will pick up 6 or 7 voters from reading some of this
which is probably roughly twice what they got in the last election all told
Pastor Goiran will be happy
