Agreed SS...plus all the photo opportunities and back slapping when they're opening infrastructure started under the Barnett Government....but one thing is for sure...there's an old saying that after the Lord Mayor comes the shit cart so the day is fast approaching when McGoo won't be able to ride on the back of extraordinary events and actually have to start getting his hands dirty. Even the greatest PM in modern times got the flick in 2007 so McGoo's day will come.

But when Barnett was riding the good times it was due to the Liberals "superior economic management " wasn't it?
And don't kid yourselves that Mcgowan has nothing to do with us FINALLY getting a better (read: fair ) gst return. It was Court and Barnett which signed us up to the silly GST arrangement and the Feds had zero interest in changing that until Barnett got obliterated at the election and it was suddenly "hey WA is genuinely pissed off we can't take them for granted anymore"
And then we have to listen to how it was apparently the Morrison govt which "fixed the gst issue"
I'm quite happy for the Mcgowan govt to continue٫ i look at the job being done rather than the name of the party

Not quite so ToOl. HFE has been around for donkey's years but it was the 3 year lag in adjusting revenues when calculating each states share of GST that was the problem. Morrison did fix it so that now drops in iron ore royalties are included in calculations contemporaneously and there's a base of 70 cents in the dollar which it can't go under from memory. It's still flawed as gambling tax revenue is not included for states like NSW but it's better than it was.

I'm not sure that Magoo will be beaten by the Wa Libs ,Bc.
Given Labour has only been in Federal power 6 of the last 25 years. And they where 6 really tough years for the ALP.I think the feds will try and get sneakers into Canberra politics.I recon he would go better than Albo.

GTR and others please read instructions in the Suggestion Box about the new changes.

Yes i know that BC but my point is that it wasn't  Morrison deciding to fix the issue out of the goodness of his heart

Does anyone want to predict what they think will be the outcome of the state election?

When you see an ALP leader campaigning in Nedlands you know things are going down the S-bend for the Libs.

My prediction: ALP 49, Libs 6, Nats 4. In the upper house my prediction is that the ALP will fall just short of an outright majority but at least two complete lunatics (not including Goiran and Collier) from obscure nut jobs parties will get elected through vote harvesting. Maybe an anti-fluoride crank, or an anti-vaxxer fruit.

6 libs seats sounds about right to me mate, taking into account the above list, ALP migth just fall short of in the upper house, but I would be pretty certain that with Greens they will have total control , another thing to watch is if the wrecking ball Mayor of freo Pettit gets his seat, almost certain I would say, its what he has wanted for years at the cost of freo.

Yes mate us and Germany, the closed borders have worked a treat, putting paid to the cranks that said it would hurt us, that and the Iron Ore boom price. It also says to me that for all the talk, tourism in this state will always be a cottage industry and of no economic giant.

Yes BC, the back slapping of the Barnett projects, the last of which will be the Airport Link which Sneakers will get to open in glory is about a year away, and whats he got up and running in between? not a great deal, The new womens hospital is apparently on the never never, a few bits and pieces on the Spaghetti Net, meanwhile Hospital Ramping is through the roof, the promised new Armadale Justice Complex is still a mirage and we can still only have half full footy games???

I'd say Barnett was the loudest voice banging on the GST door for years long before Mcgowan, basically once again the ground work had been done long before Sneakers finalised the deal,  Barnett was always going to lose that election and the GST was always going to change. The still didnt change the Gambling Revenue exclusion either.

I think Sneakers needs to be careful about the next 4 years even Churchill lost the 1945 election after his leadership in WW2.

Sneakers needs to consolidate what is happening and reduce debt, keep funding the basics (infrastructure, Health education and Security) and not given into one off what abt me issues.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended
