I wasn’t able to record it because the program details weren’t available on my PVR device to select and record it at the time I left for work. Can’t see it on 7 plus either. Does seem like a strange cat young Kirkup but what does that say about the Liberal party in general? I don’t think they should ever got rid of Mike Nahan.

He and everyone with half a brain knows that Labor will win and maybe with an increased margin, the only hope the Libs have to remain relevant is to stop Lab from controlling the Council. Punters know that Lab will win the lower house but if they think that Mcgoo can operate without any controls or review by winning both houses they may consider voting Lib/Nat or right wing independents in the upper.

SS I think Sneakers said that control of both houses was not good democracy. I would think that he understands that there needs to be checks and balances and despite how he presents sometimes I do think that we need a proper two party system and that idf it is the Nats then we will poorer for the experience

Kirkup was asked what was the difference between Labor controlling both houses to the LNP controlling both houses. His answer was less than convincing.

In my opinion you didn't miss much DD. It was only about 45 minutes duration including ads. Kirkup attempted to defend the indefensible in terms of his party's opposition to Labor's COVID-19 actions for most of 2020 and his bizarre decision to concede the election over 14 days out. Personally, I don't think his attempt to imply that the Libs have always been a conjoined twin of the Labor government in terms of COVId-19 action is going to believed by many. Similarly, his attempt to win points asking about who would be treasurer if the ALP wins was effective.

In terms of McGowan he did what he had to do. Talked about his government's handling of the pandemic. Indicated he did not take the election win for granted.

In summary, I don't think the debate helped the Liberals at all.

As a postscript I had a quick look at the markets offered by the online bookies. Has there been another election where the bookies have closed their market on the election result? Even more bizarre is the fact they are offering a market that the ALP will win all easts in the lower house. Whilst I don't think that that is possible, it shows how badly the Libs are going that there is even talk about them losing seats like Nedlands and Cottesloe.

The Libs won’t lose Cottesloe or Vasse, that’s a certainty but after that its probably anyones guess how many more they retain. Maybe Nedlands, maybe Carine but the betting markets have South Perth to Labor and that would be a riot to see the toffs there go red.

I couldn't vote for a mob that calls it WAXit for a start. You knobs, every abbreviated name implying an EXIT has the word exit in it. So WA seceding from the Commonwealth should be called WEXIT. When I went to school I used to try to choose someone pretty good at finding the footy to WAX with. Hey, you wanna wax? Who remembers that?

Used to be about 20 plus kids at either end playing kick to kick with about 4 footy's to share. Getting hold of the pill was no easy task so you had to wax and share the kicks if either of you won it.

It’s going to be hard voting this time round. I find it very hard to vote against the Libs, but they have a kid on trainer wheels that has already thrown the towel in. Then we have Mick Roberts that’s been around for a hundred years and should retire. Also the chance that Labour could rule basically unopposed. McG is riding an anti Covid wave and even the drover’s dog loves him. Has he got a plan B for when Covid doesn’t blind everyone to what is happening in politics? Shit it’s going to be hard!!!

When is Scott Morrison scheduled to visit WA to campaign for and with Kirkup and the Liberals?
