Does anyone want to predict what they think will be the outcome of the state election?

When you see an ALP leader campaigning in Nedlands you know things are going down the S-bend for the Libs.

My prediction: ALP 49, Libs 6, Nats 4. In the upper house my prediction is that the ALP will fall just short of an outright majority but at least two complete lunatics (not including Goiran and Collier) from obscure nut jobs parties will get elected through vote harvesting. Maybe an anti-fluoride crank, or an anti-vaxxer fruit.

6 libs seats sounds about right to me mate, taking into account the above list, ALP migth just fall short of in the upper house, but I would be pretty certain that with Greens they will have total control , another thing to watch is if the wrecking ball Mayor of freo Pettit gets his seat, almost certain I would say, its what he has wanted for years at the cost of freo.

I think Sneakers needs to be careful about the next 4 years even Churchill lost the 1945 election after his leadership in WW2.

Sneakers needs to consolidate what is happening and reduce debt, keep funding the basics (infrastructure, Health education and Security) and not given into one off what abt me issues.
Correct Grump.  Financially WA is in a once in a decade position of increased revenue through royalties and GST distribution so McGoo needs to be fiscally responsible and start paying down debt.  Barnett built plenty of infrastructure but at a cost so that debt needs to be reduced as a priority.

How many times did the Libs promise Ellenbrook a rail link?  How did Barnett go with WA's triple AAA credit rating?

Well Swannie there is one seat I hope you lose on Saturday, the seat of Swan. Felt good giving Michelle Roberts the cold shoulder yesterday as I went to meet Jo Ciccini. Looks like we have a winner there. McGowan, Roberts and Saffioti have tried to hide plans to close the Robinson Rd railway crossing to allow shunting at the new Midland Railway Workshops which they neglected to tell the local residents and obviously neglected to consult local residents before hand.

That goes to add to the arrogance of Mark McGowan and Rita Saffioti. With Clayton  Rd and Lloyd St becoming ever more congested due to the commercial developments and relocation of Bunnings, Robinson Rd becomes even more vital as an alternate route.

Jo started a petition and Labor are refusing to reveal details of the plan. Arrogant, arrogant, arrogant!!!

As opposed to closing the Midland Railway Workshops?

Just checked one of the online bookies has Swan Hills: ALP $1.02 Libs $10.00.   South Perth: Libs $1.75 ALP $1.95.  That would imply Labor is more likely to win South Perth than the Libs win Swan Hills.

Lets not talk about polls and bookies now shall we? I would be gobsmacked if those odds are anywhere near an accurate reflection of the result on Saturday night.

I guess you are inferring a previous Liberal govt (most likely Richard Court) shut down the old Midland Rail workshops. Well for one it was probably around the time trains went from diesel to electric so there was no need for workshops with furnaces in them and I doubt those old workshops would be suitable for assembly of todays modern trains.

Thankfully they were not pulled down and are in fact a showpiece of the history of the area these days and work continues to go on today to restore and preserve them and turn them into modern facilities including a police operations centre, medical centres and cafe's.

Had a very short chat with Jo and her husband some time ago.  A lady with fresh energy has given me cause to rethink my vote.  Surely it’s time to bye bye Michelle, she must be as old and useful as me!!!!  True what you say about congestion and developments.  Add to that it seems that they spend their money in Ellenbrook and Guildford, then whatever is left over goes on Midland.  Are there any roads in worse condition than those in Midland?

Correct BC, unfortuntaly Sneakers has also smashed households with some of the biggest rises in household costs, power water, land tax, regos, you name it, then there has been the recent ham fisted rental muratorium, that has baned evictions, and rent rises over a whole year, leaving thousands of investors out of pocket and with unpaid rent, damaged properties and bad tenants they cannot remove, and others that have been unable to even ask for a fair rent increase, in my case I am $5000 plus out of pocket, not a cent of compensation has been offered to home owners who have been knee capped by Sneakers policies, yet he has thrown money at tenants and builders.

Important to note that the new "workshops" wont actually be workshops as such.

The trains will still be manufactured in Queensland, the components will be moved all the way across to WA and then simply assembled here.  So instead of moving a whole train here as was previously done will will get in a few bits and bolt them together. The vast majority of the technical skills and trades will remain in Qld.

Essentially it will work the same way the old Ford and Holden plants used to work here.

One wonders how long the plant will operate and if the major changes in roads around Midland will be worth it if it turns out to be a huge white elephant.

How did the Liberal costings press conference go today?  Sky News (Australia) didn't think it went particularly well for the Liberals.
