What a massive stuff up that was and McGowan is quite justified to ignore any advice that the NSW Government is dishing out about relaxing restrictions and opening borders. I am getting the feeling that there are many out there including politicians who are thinking this virus is under control but as we have seen over the past few days it is still very much a threat and we need to be very cautious or another total lockdown is possible

It's not under control in NSW far from it - a top private school in the Sydney Eastern Suburbs (a declared red hot spot) has been evacuated after just one day back
These are kids yet to live out their lives put at huge risk and all that premier can say is that she expects more cases and more closures YET demands borders be opened
It defies all belief and this the exact reason other states particularly QLD are so opposed to Berejklian
WA in all honesty possibly could relax within the state but play it ultra-cautious about opening up the border

BH, its easy to police where people sit in the cinema, most clubs struggle to keep people in the licensed area during games so what chance will they have of making people stay a decent distance apart?

Guys, im happy for things to try to return to normal, but I think its important that things only return to normal in a controlled way, and if we need to wind them back then we can do that if they are controlled.

Don't get me wrong, I miss the footy, and I miss going to the pub, but I don't want to just start doing that again if it means my friends or family get sick. That's more important to me so I think sneakers is doing a great job, and I didn't vote for him at the last election

Humble pie for Sneakers after it was revealed WA health authorities were notified there was sickness on the sheep ship before it berthed but it wasn't acted upon. Time to get back to the real world Mark as you're not bullet proof after all.

Sneakers has not done himself any good in the administrative fiasco. One of the things I learnt early in having to deal with the media is be sure of your story before you start laying the blame or assigning responsibility.

He has to be accountable for the staff (at any level) that work for the government and as such needs to stand up and say yep i would appear that I did know the facts and shot my mouth off!

I realise that the ABC will obviously take a the left side but on the way home from the beach this morning the ABC news provided an obviously left side factual account of what happened!

It appears the Captain advised someone in Canberra that they had a couple of high temps but nothing to be concerned abt! Another fedral authority sent an email to the state health dept saying yep had a couple of high temps but all good now, nothing to worry abt. The border force advised they had no notification form anyone state or federal. It then appears that oops 6 had high temps and oops no one had done anything. The federal CMO said on the report that it his belief that communication between federal, state and then federal procesess had fallen down.

In hindsight Sneakers should have bitten the tongue until everything was known and then said oops we have an issue.

As I said earlier he is accountable but the Civil Servant and Public servant that did the communicating have a responsibility to do their job!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Someone in the Health department will be looking for a new job soon. They knew on Friday but failed to advise Sneakers until Monday. It was then too late, the ship had docked, if he knew Friday they would have been barred entry and sent on their way. Not local infections so iso should deal with it ok.

I hear what you say PH but sitting in an enclosed space like a cinema, it only needs someone who may not even know that they are a carrier to cough or sneeze and half the theatre goers could get it, very different from a lightly populated footy oval outer which would be far substantially less dangerous than a cinema, bar, Pub, cafe or public transport which have all been or about to be opened up to some extent.

in the good old days people would pick up a phone and advise other departments of any possible issue, now they just send an email and say my job is done.
poor form from federal and state on this issue.

Yes I need to agree SS and MO.
Very poor form all round.
I been saying for years that people nowadays have lost the art of actually talking. And everyone laughs at me when trying to explain it.
Surely a bloody simple phone call could have been made by someone from health?
Everyone rabbits on about cruise vessels, and obviously they not the only problem!!
